I should add that what I would find VERY interesting is a column similar to the one Dave Walker has i.e. A monthly report on interesting things you have worked on, fixed, strange problems and there solutions, new developments (before they are released) etc

Thats a good idea, I havent seen any of these write ups but would like to.

A secret cam is any cam the tuner wont tell you the origins of.

So if XYZ Motorsport sell you a pair of BD16's but dont say what they are, then those are "secret cams"

The reason behind which of course is:
a) to charge you over the odds for something you could have got elsewhere
b) to make it sound like you are getting something you couldnt have got elsewhere
c) so people can grow their internet cock by an inch when they post their spec up
Or alternatively it could be a cam designed by a specific engine tuner after hours and hours of experimentation on an engine dyno, where they then don't want to give away the specific lift and duration of something that has taken them hundreds of pounds of fuel and tens of hours of their time, only to have someone just have some made the same instead of buying them off the tuner to save a few extra quid .

Yes, that as well, thats the obvious half of the "secret cam" label though, I was detailing what its ALSO used for by certain tuners.

what about drivability Vs big power, so outlining what kinda turbo's you could use to have decent power, but could be used reliably and possibly daily, and what kinda compromises you are looking at for big power?

Great Idea Can do a hall of shame as well with the worst bodges seen and cars that Stu has condemned ( Sure I will be in there somewhere )

Also, One for the Fast Ford boys, why don't you make a perfect bound collection of all Stu's tech articles? and you could include your own bits and bobs as well I recon that would sell like hot cakes for Xmas

No real input, just wanted to say massive thanks for the articles you have done. Make complex subjects easy to understand for the layman, like myself.

a guide on how to spec a specific engine for x amount of power (ie: yb for 300hp, 350, 400, 450, 500 and above, do the same for cvh and zetec)

something on choosing the right size wastegate.

something on choosing the right inlet setuo (pipe/hose sizes, i/c size, TB size, plenum size/volume)

an article about 8 injectors (wrc and rs500 style) vs 4 big ones

anything about port sizes?

anything about upgrading cooling systems?

just some ideas

everything you've covered seemt o be biased somewhat to the turbocharged applications (i know it's not because some stuff is the same regardless) but what about N/A tuning?

what works and what doesn't

the old "honda make and engine that produces 160 brake and you can't make it produce anymore with bolt on bits" would be a good point as well

as said, i know you've covered loads of stuff before but one about wiring in aftermarket manegement would be instresting as well (not a particular one but what to look out for when buying, what works on which cars, ease of instalation, etc)

i think they did a test on it in max power or something
what you gained at one part of the rev range, you lost at the other

and, in some cases, you lost power with bolt on mods like a filter or exhaust, so a really well designed engine with not much more you could ask for really
