Chassis strength - info/advice.
Planning to fit a 6 -speed box into the car once the box itself arrives and a few parts needed to do it.
Basically i need to weld into the engine bay the focus gearbox mounts one onto the inner wing and the other to the back of the bulk head/ underside of the passenger footwell.
The question i ask though is.......
On a mk3 Fiesta the standard gearbox is bolted to a cradle that runs under the engine bay and fixes at front and back. As im not bolting the new box to this, is this allowed to be removed - structially.
I know one other person so far who has fitted this box and he kept the craddle in place but had to lower it with blocks due to the 6 speed box being alot larger.
Wht do you reckon -
Yes remove the cralde its not a nessecity
No keep it or the front of the car will fall off.
