when you turn the ignition on, does the fuel pump run permantely, or just for a couple of seconds?

i had the same happen to me i think it was the meter unit .my car ws running like that for weeks so i sprayed some wd40 in the meter unit then i went for a drive got on the bypass i slowly put me foot down got to 5000 revs then it started being lumpy so then i put me foot right down and it backed fired and was ok after that ......i changed loads of things because of that.........

Check the metering unit - turbo boost hose isn't soft and collaping.
