MK4 Fiesta with 1.3 Endura engine

Basically when it first starts up and is idling the engine seems to be stuttering and when putting foot on accelerator it kinda hesitates then revs but doesnt rev clean, seems to chug a bit then rev.

Other symptoms are that when you rev to say 20mph in 2nd, the car just feels really held back and doesn't wanna rev any further, until you put it in 3rd, then it'll go up to 30 - not so bad round town but an arse on dual carriageway when you have to put it in 5th at 40 to get any speed out of it (and then reaching 70 is virtually impossible)

It'll also sometimes cut out for no reason - like last night when parking it I had plenty of revs on with clutch on the bite and it just died. Started again, same scenario, moved it about a foot and it just died again.

Sometimes however, the car runs absolutly fine. It'll rev fine and doesn't feel held back or anything, then suddenly it'll start playing up again.

Misfire? Seems like it to me anyway.

Second question - does a 1.25 Zetec drop straight on the same mounts as the Endura etc? Don't wanna start flogging a dead horse with a shitty engine really because theres a few other problems with it, plus its just a crap engine

my missus has the same car and it did the same thing, i turned out to be the MAF sensor, got a new one and also replaced the lambder sensor, this cured it...

How much the sensors cost fella? Dealer supplied?

Also, anybody know if the Zetec engine is an easy fit? Don't wanna end up spending money on whats essentially a fucked engine anyway, spesh since the car only cost me 100 notes
