Default Bruntingthorpe noise restrictions?

How do you ford lads go about meeting the noise restrictions imposed at bruntingthorpe? I am taking my nova turbo along there in october for a total vauxhall day and at the moment it has a one silencer exhaust system and a screamer pipe from the external wastegate. At a guess this setup will fail the noise tests so i was looking for help from you?

It's not a hard question to answer really.

You need to add more silencers!! Or risk being thrown off.

Vent the Screamer back into the main system will help.

I am going to speak to my exhaust place about adding a large box across the rear of the car outside of the rear bumper. Hopefully this would help enough.

I have already decided to loose the screamer pipe.

Does anyone have any experience of exhaust bungs?

its 98dB static and 87dB drive-by

if you can use your car on a track, you should be ok.

if its horrifically loud tho, which it probably is with a screamer then you may have issues.

is there any way you can add more silencers?

I would get another silencer added under the car, im going for a larger diameter exhaust system over winter and think i will also have to include a 2nd box to keep noise down...

Even if you use your car on track you may be in trouble.

We have had plenty of track cars go well over the limit.

Seems to depend what mood they in too, and if the (sound as fuck) owners (nobhead) sons are there or not.

Its not all that loud when driven but i feel it will fail the drive-by test.

Not got the space under the car for a 2nd box due to the small size of the exhaust tunnel. This is why i am looking to have something made like the reyland escort runs at times? First thing will be the screamer going back into the exhaust though.

What a cool car!

If you're going there to do some final mapping or test the top speed, then exhaust bungs are not a good idea!

I was up there the other day, and they were doing full throttle limiter testing on the Vulcan.

We were stood about a hundred yards away and it was so loud it actually hurt.
One of the guys I was with thought his ears were bleeding at one point!

On my way out, I asked the guys in the gatehouse what it registered, and apparantly it "was the wrong type of noise" to set the noise meters off

As said, it really just depends what mood they are in.

I remember first hand how loud the Vulcans where, i used to live just down the road from a vulcan base, and we where on there main flight path.

That must have been an awsome sight/sound Nick, i'm genuinley jelouse.

On my maxi I'm gonna use a twin pipe system to try and keep the noise down.

Well my nova sounds like a jet at full throttle so that might be the wrong sort of noise as well!
