Went to weight in some scrap copper today and saw this little lot waiting to be crushed......

The guy said that this was the last few pallets of 800 wheels they had.....all RX8 rims with FUCK ALL wrong with them

They have Range Rover ones, Subaru ones .....loads and loads

Must be something wrong with them surely. Why would they scrap them if there fine as im sure they could get much more than scrap value.

I asked they guy and they have a contract with the local Pro-Drive team, Land Rover up at Gaydon which also sees them having Aston Martin rims in to be crushed....Just think it is a case of getting them out the way

They have a man on a PC checking that none of them end up on e-bay.........Dont think i didnt try and buy the fucking lot off the guy

things like that happen all the time, even new body shells etc get scrapped with nothing wrong with them sometimes

Aston smash up a lot of their own stuff like alloys before they go in the skip. They had problems with items appearing on Ebay One culprit was caught as his Ebay username was his private number plate

It's more hassle to sell the stuff on than write it off although in some rare cases stuff does get offered to employees, and there's usually a bun fight for it. I think Aston recently scrapped a track prepared NSX with all sorts of trick suspension parts.

The price of scrap metal is just going up and up,tiff must be minted

how much is copper per ton these days,lead gets £800 per ton round here

Shitloads have been stolen from all over south derbyshire/east staffs/leicestershire

i work for toyota and recently we just moved sites and my work had loads of stuff they didnt want the hassle of moving so me and a mate got 3 sprinter van loads of stuff for nothing

wheels,bumpers,lights,engine parts etc all brand new so we sold sum bits and weighed sum bits in and made just off 8k each just because my work cudnt be boverd with moving the bits lol

If I was them id be on the lookout for copper roofs

or just do what some pikeys did at the scrappy I go to and nick the whole skip with 7.5k's worth and even used the forklift to put it on the wagon they dont leave it outside anymore

On the subject of waste, not car related, but i work in the IT dep of a larg'ish local hospital.

You wouldnt believe the kit we have to throw out.....prefectly good pc's, laptops, printers....if they are due for replacement they are skipped and crushed...we are talking pentium 4's 512mb ram etc.

We aren't allowed to keep them cos of if they set fire to our homes, we can sue the nhs, can't even sign a disclaimer taking any liability.

Crock of sh1t, daren't even 'nick' one cos it'd cost us our jobs.

All those wheels would have been crack tested mainly for intenal flaws and rejected.
Just because you cant see a crack/flaw doesnt mean its not there.
Anyone who buys them is risking their and others lives.
