f1 is a multi billion £ industry
nascar is in $ so that's half it before we even start

Nascar are restricted in what electronics they use, and don't have to worry too much about creating cars that will go round twisty corners and pick up speed from hairpin turns back to full speed.
Their budget per car must be a lot lower than F.1.

However they have far more spectators spending far more money so the Nascar industry is a lot richer than F.1

Salaries are a closely guarded secret but estimates are:

Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Auto Racing
Last Year's Rank (2006): 10
$5,761,830 = Winnings and pay
$20,000,000 = Endorsements
$25,761,830 = Total

In real terms possibly twice the total with all other race connected earnings.

You sure you not confusing NASCAR with Indycar/Champcar/CART?

NASCAR is Days of Thunder redneck shit, not the F1 style stuff.

Yeah reckon yor mixed up, Nascar and F1 isn't really a fair match in terms of comparison!

Champ Car and F1, not sure who spends more?

But F1 way more than Nascar I'd say

i would of said nascar due to how popular it is in the states and the massive amounts of sponsorship they have, but then thinking about it nascars only really a domestic sport and F1 is on a global stage so the sponsorship alone must be colossal!!

in 2007 Renault who had won the 2006 world championship had a budget of $312.7m us dollars

Broken down as follows

Renault : $130.0m
ING : $54.0m
Elf : $31.0m
Pvaxx : 12.0m
Bridgestone : $11.5m
Hanjin Shipping : $8.5m
Chronontech : $1.5m
Magneti Marelli : $2.0m
Puma : $1.6m
Charmilles : $0.7m
Processia Solutions : $0.5m
Lancel : $0.4m
Lombardi : $0.4m
3D Systems : $0.4m
Altran : $0.4m
Elysium : $0.8m
NetApp : $0.4m
Xansa : $0.3m
Eutelsat : $0.4m
Symantec : $0.35m
DMG : $0.35m
Tecnomatix : $0.35m
Oz Racing : $0.3m
CD Adapco : $0.25m
Vistagy : $0.4m
Tridion : $0.5m
Champion : $0.1m
Stellent : $0.3m
Phantom Works : $1.0m
TV Income : $52.0m

This is one team... if you include other big spenders like
Ferrari : US $401.25m
Mclaren : US $493.1m
Honda : US $420.9m

The Monaco Grand Prix brought US $90 million into the Monegasque economy alone. (this is after they had paid expenses such as Bernie to hold the event)
The Canadian GP paid Bernie Ecclestone $22 million us dollars for a the 2006 event

NASCAR simply does not come close... show me a team with a 400 us million dollar budget and races that bring 90 million us dollars.
Show me and event which can pay $22 million dollars and still generate profit..

If NASCAR was such a big earner why did the brickyard spend so much money to bring F1 back to the states and increase the payment to Bernie in order to keep F1 there for a few more years.

The source of this information is the year book for F1 'black book' available from http://www.businessf1.com/ so you know its not a guestimate
