But please stop all this off boost crap, a nicely specced road YB would blow your engine away EVERYWHERE from any revs in any gear.... in my opinion
what i have been saying cheers for adding that lee

My personal view is this....

I do not see nitrous as cheating as a way of getting faster acceleration out of a car

What I do see as cheating (IMO) is power figures that include nitrous, for example;

you have an engine that makes say, 600bhp, and you also have 150bhp of gas.... Yes you do have a total power output at your disposal of 750bhp, but IMO you don't have a 750bhp engine, you have a 600bhp engine.... Make any sense to anyone other than me?

Just the way I see it......

I reckon on a part throttle race, no rules for either car barring the throttle had somthing to stop it opening more than about 2/3 or 3/4, my old cossie would rip your car up, could easy pull 6000rpm+ in 5th and sit on the bumper of a 225bhp model TT from 70 to its maximum speed (150 odd), all on part throttle, could easy see 23/25psi on part throttle.

But then it was light and P8 has good part throttle mapping, i know when it was on L6 and full weight it wasnt all that amazing.

lets be honest Jim the cossie you drove was not right, will take ya out in mine soon and scare ya silly!!
NOS to me in not cheating but my personal preference is to find the power another way, such as big turbo etc. I can however understand people using Gas to push the envelope in cars like Jims or big power cars where it becomes more economical.

Its been stated that Nitrous is expensive im not so sure.
At Brunters used 2m 24s Nitrous all day (have timer).
Only 15s on each of 3 Topspeed runs as it was used in 4TH/5TH only. The remaining 1m 39s included 10/12 Full bore launches to 150+.
Thats 1 1/2 bottles so around Ł90 . Race Fuel would have cost as much i think.
Dont really need it on the road , but its only a switch away & have several programmes in the progressive to choose from.
People who are not impressed by the use of Nitrous aint been in one, the hit at 100 as you switch it on is a real adrenalin kick ,as yet all Mark & i do is laugh as it happens its like afterburners i love it.
Have not yet experimented with the limits of Nitrous, but their is a Cossie abroad that has 650bhp + 300 shot in a drag car.

Where, who, what, etc

And il jus say it again for no real reason, NOS is better than having 2 maps, one for road use and one with race fuel to actually give you some power.

Tooo many "road" cars these days need to be running race fuel to have any power.

Infact someone i knwo very well has a car like that, 1.2bar max on pump fuel, 2bar+ and literally 100s of bhp more on race fuel...

Id never have a car like that, i like having a road car.

Nos cheating on your honda ricer with no engine mods and ugly body huge wheels etc.
But not on car with a high power engine and you can use for a powerboost when the turbo is not at fullboost or for cooling.
If it was my car i do't want nos in my car.

i like nos , as long as someone else is paying for it

rod you say its not cheap , for teh amount you have used thats a lot of money over a years events , but in your defence you gave your reasons for it , so that suits you fine you gained what you wanted

for me , i would want to build the engine to give the output i require , not to have another expendable option to gain that power - fookin petrol is expensive enough without haveing something more expensive being used at the same rate !!!

Yeh so would I, but my motor off Nitrous will be a match for any Higher Powered Cossie (700bhp) at road speeds because of my low down Torque & thats why I say its the best of both worlds. At events I will use Nitrous to improve the Top end.
