well, one of my co workers has just been signing a bit of paper to say he's going to get a cheque for £27k (with tax being paid on the money over £18.4k) and then there's the other shares that we get paid into our wages

i missed out on a shed load more because i started here a year after the firs load of shares came up, which would have given me close to £50k's worth

better than a kick in the bollcoks i suppose, and now i might just say yes to the company car

a quick history from my point of view and then what the company have said

every few eyars, we were given "shares" in the company as it was all privatly owned back then
if you stayed with the company when it possibly floated on the market then these shares would be ours to sell or keep as we so wished
but you would only have these shares if you were still employed by the company, if you left they would become null and void

the memo i got said the share divended or some other stuff was in the region of £6.2 million that would be spread over the whole share allocation

what we've had to do is sell all the shares in the company as a lump to get the money (or words to that effect were sort of implied) but now we get a shed load of cash to spend
