Default Awesome pics of Irish 3dr Cossie drifting last sun (56k no)

Came 2nd in round 3 of D-Rift I think, which I think is the Irish equivalent of Eurodrift, ie not the top level, but the one below, but still awesome cars n drivers.

Heres a goodun tho, how old you think the WINNER of round 3 was, the guy in the white S14a in the pics??? (PS, he has already won a round of Prodrift, ie the top level stuff, too)

Enjoy...

He called James Deane, and how did he get so amazing so young? Going by some of the stories ive been told over the years by the Irish drift guys, it would mainly involve highly illegal crazyness none of us would dare to do, they all mental over there, lol.

Doubt its money to be honest, ive never met any of em yet that youd call minted, dodgy as fook yeah, but minted, no, lol.

He must have a lot of natural talent, and like loads of em has prob been driving since he could walk, but a lot of it, and the reason in general they massivley better drivers than over here, is they have a lifestlye of getting out and using their cars to the limit like they should be, rather than the UK lifestyle of cruising, static car shows, and giving it the biggun on the internet.

When you are joyriding and the IRA dont want you to be, I guess that you either quickly retire with damaged knees, or quickly get fucking good

One i remember involving someone quite well known (told to me by someone from the UK who was over there for a week with the guy involved) was in a FWD car in fact, cant remember what it was, but wasnt his, was a customer car.

After some daytime road crazyness (prob drunk, i forget) including getting chased from the police, they came back down the long dirt track the farm where the family lived, sideways, on the handbrake, at about 80mph, with his 100 little brothers and sisters all watching from the bank waving and cheering, lol.

Being absolute mentalists is just accepted over there it seems, awesome

Red one is Glen Mahers AE86 yeah.

No pics of the back of the S14a, looks pretty standard though, whole car is quite a low spec, just an awesome driver.

any idea how much one would cost if its possible to find one that is? do most of them turn up for sale modified or is it possible to find standard ones?

They not rare, they just expensive as fuck, as they "classics".

UK models are worth an absolutle fortune as the Irish worship them like they were their gods, but can get a half decent Jap import for about 4-5k, which is a hell of a lot of cash for a mid 80s 125bhp 1.6litre car, but like said, "classic"

Finding one is piece of piss, aside from id guess a good 10 or so for sale in the UK at mo, there about 15 on Irish autotrader at mo, and I can get a list of literally hundreds of them for sale in Japan, the proper FOB price for them too, ie paid for in Japan, shipping etc paid for, you just collect from the docks and pay import taxes.

Most are modified, infact you will be lucky to find a 100% standard one, though why youd want that is beyond me.
Most come with exhaust, filter, coilovers, diff, etc, not mega modded, but can easy enough find a complete weapon too.

pat (the 3dr) came third im sure and james (s14a) got into the final and won. i was there drifting on saturday, but not sunday(fixing my car ) and saw the lads practicing. pat has just fitted a gt30 turbo (he doesnt know the rest of the name) to the 3dr last week and got 440bhp at the flywheel, he was pulling third coming out of the small 180deg harpins the car is amazing to watch it go and pats control and feel for the car even more amazing.

having watched james grow up and progress through drifting- he is a neighbour of mine, he is no doubt a bit a a child prodigy. i sold him his first drift car, a marroon sierrra twincam estate and think he won his second ever event in novice last year in it, and he bought an s14 with the prize money. within three months he had gone from a novice to winning the pro class in his s14 which btw was completly standard bar coilovers and welded. to watch him in the estate, he would consistently do perfect laps every single time of watergrasshill and rosegreen, every clipping point perfect, especially on the big bends were a lot of pro clas would find it hard and twin battles didnt phase him at all. his control of it was superb.
his backround has helped him a lot, he has grown up around cars in north cork which is excepted as the centre of irish drifting and both his father and brother are heavily involved in rallying. his older brother mike deane is a drifting pioneer in ireland and used to drift on the roads around before it ever became a sport. he won the first ever drift series in his 325is and has been right at the top and winning ever since in this huge sport, which is now massive in popularity here, rivaling football and rallying for crowds.
when james was 12 he was drifting mikes beemer around inch beach in kerry and has been driving all sorts of cars ever since. everything is a possible car messing place- fields, yards, tracks, small roads, whatever. all this messing about in cars from a young age gives you a lot better idea of how they work and drive rather than sitting into a fwd at 17 and starting there. rwd cars are a huge culture here and drifting has stemed from years of donuting and sliding, twincams beemers sierras skylines ect. around which is normal on the road of a evening or at every blackened crossroad in the country. you get very good at going sideways when your facing a wall in third or having lost a few cars into ditches going sideways. youll only ever know the limits when you pass them

its pretty cool alright that he bought the new car with the prize money, like a labourer buying his first digger and doing small jobs, and then buying another ect. and it building into a career. if ya know what i mean.

the biggest shock really was when he beat his brother in the semis i think.
but it was all taken well his brother was nearly more happy with pride that james had beaten him than if he won

james in the sierra

Hi,

I spotted this site in the stats of www.ontherack.net there are more photos of it there from other drifts, and there a few more cossie in rallies as well as a good few mk2 and focus WRC's.
The cossie is great and very well driven, but his brother has a volvo 740 which is very interesting too, as it is running the same engine!!

Here are a few more pics.

James was the reason both when home,
