Gotta cook a cheap meal for 10 people? Advice?
Hi all, It's my turn to cook soon for my watch at work, at my old station we all used to cook our own stuff, but now I'm down at Southsea Fire Station it's a lot more friendly and we all eat together at night.
nyway, Anyone recomend a meal for 10 people, gotta be cheap to make as we all chip in. Everyone makes the usual Spag Bol or a Chilli and I want to make something a bit different.
But there's a problem.....
..........I cant cook, well, I lie, I can cook a curry from a jar, and that's it. What can you all recomend?
Or, is there any naughty page 3 girl lookalikes on here that live near the coast, can cook and would like to cook for us all?
Cheers
Andy

Mexican, piece of piss and quite good when theres a few of you as its mix and match so to speak, bit of this and that. Get a couple of those nacho kits for starters and some fajitas for main course, goes well with a few beers, but if you're on duty probably not, nothing like a shout to ruin a good meal

Fajitas is a nice easy one that always goes down well at work, (Just make sure there is lots of it!!) With some potato wedges or something, spicy ones maybe that you can buy frozen with ease. Get some sour cream and salsa and you're there mate.
Failing that just make a curry, use the pataks sauces as they are very good for jar stuff and go a long way. Add some spinach and chicken, a stock cube with the rice, get some nice naan breads and some popodoms and you're onto another winner.
If you want an acual recipe then drop me a pm.
Hope that helps,
Matt.

cant beat a good beef stew tbh
about 3lb of braising steak
8 carrots
3 onions
a few bay leaves
herbs ( marjoram/thyme or whatever you have really!)
2 butternut squash diced
1 turnip cut into chunks
4 potatoes chopped into chunks
a couple of parsnips chopped
white cabbage cut roughly
4 pints of beef stock
1 bottle of newcastle brown ale ( or similar ale)
coat all the meat in flour, and put about 2oz of butter in a large pan and melt, brown the meat in the butter and then add all veg, gently cook the veg and then add the bay leaves and herbs, make the stock and add stock then ale, stock then ale, and leave to simmer for about 2hrs, season to taste
serve with crusty bread
job done
