Default A question to Ford CVH and Cosworth Owners with L8 ECU's...

Can you imagine having your Level 8 Do:

Wasted spark.
&
Closed loop fuelling control together?

Oh yes, your right we can allready have that cant we?

What i meant to say was...

Can you imagine having your Level 8 with:

Wasted spark.
&
Closed loop fuelling control.
&
Pectel compatible serial datastream output for diagnostics.

Sorry?, Oh yeah, shit, my memory fades as i get older.... we can allready supply that too cant we?

What im sure i really meant to ask was...

Can you imagine having your Level 8 Ecu with:

Wasted spark.
&
Closed loop fuelling control.
&
Pectel compatible serial datastream output for diagnostics.
&
Anti Lag. (ALS)

TBC.....

In terms of Anti lag, does the turbo not need a Marham shaft?? Thats a big expense is it not

Sounds good Stu I always wanted ALS on mine, but couldn't afford the P8, RP Labs, standalone ECU route.

Hope this doesn't pee on your fire, but can you now do the multi stage boost controller thingy as well? Seem to remember the standard chip (I think) only had the ability to do a couple of things at a time (mine that you did does Closed Loop and Wasted spark for example)

i have a device in my ecu that will enable you to have dual map, you can set the second map up for what ever you like at the flick of a switch , boost levels, fuel types etc etc

its a shame that this development has come too late for me now being rally car-less i would like to see the launch control software though

must now mean my 3 L8's must be worth something ?

surely this will be a secondary low rev limiter, activiated by a handbrake or zero speed switch?

or will be be a bit more flash, with ALS style fuel changes and ign retard rather than just cut?

either way, nice addition

That's what I always wanted Mark

As for those L8s - I've seen people advertising them at £250 and more, so I'm thinking you'll do ok

Almost, almost, regretting stripping my car down now

I heard this on the grapefine, converting L8's to do ALS, and launch.

Bet those people who spent a fortune on P8 are well happy

Also, can you buy the softwear or have it fitted by yourself to run the anti lag / launch control / coilpacks etc and then still have it mapped by your own engine builder to there requirements?

We are looking into this as an option too, but we are clean out of ECU pins, thats teh problem, as well as processor time. But never say never, especially when theres a man as clever as nikola @ RP labs on teh end of the programming research...

A switch (or 2 if you have LC too) on teh dash
ALS valve.
ALS throttle body

Those are minimum requirements.

However we will also be able to run perfectly normal idle control valve strategies too if you wish to fit bigger and better bypass valves elsewhere. Unlike the shonky pectel P8 version.

Indeed it is. I wouldnt waste my time with a secondary rev limiter as its just a garbage gimmick IMO.

We are going to investigate a few different options other than the conventional modified ALS valve. I personally like Bosch rotaries.
Nikola will hopefully be able to help with the electronic suitability.

Thanks to Steve Whittaker and his beautifull 500Bhp 3door, i have a test mule for a week or 2 to complete the project with Nikola and also Simon, as he is helping us with some spark drive related issues.

Tricky question really...

To buy it, you would have to become my customer even if your not now.
Unsure how you meant it to be honest?

Sadly not.
ALS and Launch control software will be contained within the calibration Eprom of teh Level 8 ECU, thus it will only be available with my own maps on it. It MAY be possible at a later date to incorporate other peoples maps into this software for a price, but i am not currently very happy with the prospect of being the last person to touch a map, so to speak, just in case its garbage and was about to kill something... if you follow?

Wasted spark of course can still be fitted to any ecu regardless of mapper. Just as it always was.

Quick Reply: A question to Ford CVH and Cosworth Owners with L8 ECU's...
