Default AFR gauges

After reading thru Stu's post again i have decided to defo get one.

What ones to people think are the best?

Prices?

Ease of set up and use?

The one the use at AVA is just a led readout and is realtime, connects to live and neg of battery and away you go would like something like this.

Any ideas folks?

I'm getting one of these. Doug Stirling (L8 ECU) and Phill2400 have them and seem to like them too.

Hi matey

I use a Tech edge 3B1 decoder and unit, using an LA1 pod style display - get on with it very very well, and the only problems I have with it relate to dick head user (ie me!)

I bought direct from Aus, which worked out well due to the favourable exchange rate - also - their wide band lambda sensors are seriously cheap.

Link to right page here

http://wbo2.com/3b1/default.htm

Dont be tempted into buying the most expensive lambda sensor though - I made this mistake assuming dearer was better - after reading the bumph below, I replaced it with the cheaper one, which is much better! (7057)

Link to details on the types of sensor...

http://wbo2.com/lsu/sensors.htm

Company are well established, and trustworthy in my experience.

Fookin hell Doug, now I know why Phill was making that dash pod thing- you're going to need it to mount all those gagues in your car!

Euan:
Personally I'm getting mine from wherever Doug got his from -as he got a good deal.

Was planning on trying a Group Buy on here if enough people are interested? Doug will know the basic 1 / 2 off price - will see what (if any) discount I can get.

I'm getting a Zeitronix set up Euan. Jaycos has one fitted and with a Map and EGT sensor you get an excellent data logging facility

www.zeitronix.com (if it works )

No alarm with the Innovate kit........

BUT I advise you place the compact guage (52mm) in a very easy to view place, then the display's edge mounted LED's are colour coded as a warning, but you must look out for readings over 11.8 (on boost) on the large central display...........regard anything with a 12 + reading (on boost) as dangerous to the health of your engine.

Currently I have one of these in my car, which I like but is way too bulky for day to day running. Plus I've yet to use all the features on it - hence going for Doug has pictured above.

Ł 252.00 + Ł 8.00 UK delivery.

Worth trying some of the traders here on PF first as the strenght of the Ł against the $ makes these USA sourced items cheaper than ever now

IIRC 6 or 7 wires alltogether, but nice clear easy to understand instructions come with the unit, took me approx 1 hour to install (NOT including the lambda boss that was already fitted to my downpipe ages ago).

Will get Phil2400 to post up pics of his - a lot neater than mine

The Innovate gauge is ONLY 12 - 14 mm thick, so it can be stuck almost anywhere (double sided s/adhehive pads) - though it can also be mounted in a conventional 52mm pod / hole - very clever design

SiB,
use your existing innovate and wire the aux output to a 200mV digital voltmeter module, using the default output characteristic it will read directly in AFR. DVM modules are cheap as you like on ebay

You can use pretty much any guage you want as the output is so configurable, I saw someone who had used an electronic boost gauge!

Euan,
I have the Innovate 52mm one in stock and even have the expensive heat soak adapter if you want this (which is recommended above 800°C EGTs to protect the wide-band sensor)?

Ł260 inc delivery + Ł45 for the heat soak adapter....

I have done some group buys on the Innovate before, not for profit, but because they are a the best gauge out there IMO.

How many people would want them?

I have a lot of experience in programming and fitting them. They have a warming system so that you can set an alarm if AFR goes is greater than x and RPM is greater than Y and TPS is greater then warn. You need the RPM convertor inpput for other inputs than the AFR though.

IMO best feature of the Innovate XD-1 / XD-16 is the slimline mounting option:

If you ONLY want to display AFR (the XD-16 can be configured to display ANYTHING) then there is the new DB kits for well under Ł200

You can still use your laptop to display other info

Jaycos can confirm the actual numbers but I believe his zeitronix just got within .1 of an AFR point on the entire range versus the sensor on a set of dyno dynamics rollers IIRC

yes that's right it was just .1 leaner than the dyno . I have tried all the innovate gear dam unreliable imo I returned 4 lc1 controllers in one month then 5 more over 2 months . on the other hand the zietronic is brilliant withose readings chip mentioned the sensoe is over one year old and still spot on and the data logging is simple and exelent accurate

if ur thinkin innovate check the faults on there forum you won't believe how often they break

My LM1 innovative controller packed up last weekend as it happens.

Not sure yet if its the sensor or the box itself, but certainly backs up what you are saying.

Shame cause its great when it works!

If you read on the site, they say that the Bosch sensors don't like to see more than 800°C, so should be running the heat-sink plug if it goes above this.
