The Bank of England was established by a Scotsman, so STFU!!!
WILLIAM PATERSON
Founder of the Bank of England - (1658-1719)
In 1691, Paterson, a Scottish trader of dubious background, but respected in London's financial circles, devised a cunning scheme to let the cash-strapped government of the time, impoverished by years of civil war, borrow from the country's rich landowners at good rates of interest. The lenders, or "shareholders" would be known as The Company of the Bank of England.
And so the beast that spawned modern capitalism, with the power to bring down governments, was born.

The Cheif of Visa reckons cash will be all but extinct by 2012. Don't think so somehow.

Can't see the point fo cash anyway, you only need it when exchanging it with familly or friends.
For everything else you can pay electronically like shops, paypal, ebay, your wages go into your bank and its increasingly getting harder to get a gym membership or any kind of service without direct debit. Can you imagine how it would be now if you had to order everything off the net with cash or cheque?
Drug dealers need cash though.
