Accident free car: important or not?
Do you guys set a high value upon owning a car that is absolutely 1000% accidentfree if you're looking to buy one?
Our 3d has had a little accident (previous owner, not us) resulting in this...
As you can see it was never properly fixed.
We've got original spare panels from Ford so we could have this fixed.
Would look 100 times better than it does now, but you ALWAYS will see some marks (inside of boot)
Is it worth the hassle of putting this back to a 100% mint state or will the comments always be "nice car, shame it had an accident though".
Wasn't really bothered with this when we got the car as we had great plans back then, but all I can seem to think about is "it's a mint car apart from that one little fault".
Thing is I've found a one owner car for sale (not telling which because they're are people I know IRL reading this but it is a Cosworth), comes with all the books, 30k miles, original paint, has always been 100% standard, is accidentfree and is 1000% MINT.
Am I just completely crazy if I tell you I'm thinking of selling the 3d in favour of the other car because of that one small accident?
Important note: if you would take the price of the 3d (2 previous owners, non original paint, 45k miles) and add the costs of getting it fixed and resprayed you would end up with about the same price of the mint one owner car...

if it were me i'd get it fixed and keep it,a hell of a lot of cossies have had small repairs, and even more have had paint...unless it's a bad job it doesn't bother me,yours as it stands would bother me......get in touch with NMS,i'm sure they'd get it as good as new in no time

A good repair can go unnoticed, or be accepted as inevitable but acceptable, but a shonky repair or bad paint suggesting a shonky repair will strip ŁŁŁŁ of the value, if sell at all.
Depends on how much you want for the car, in relation to what a repair will cost, and what it is worth before and after I suppose.
The upside of having the work done is that while they are at it, get them to touch up any other poor areas around the car and make it a stunner that will ask ŁŁŁ or sell really quickly.

Id get it done if you've got original ford panels. As said if it's done by a body shop that knows what they are doing and have high standards of work then it shouldn't be easy to see once it's had a repair

Paint doesnt bother me, bad repairs does ,is it Cat D or whatever you lot class it as in Belgium if so then get rid if theres a minter somewhere else and you have the cash.
Minor repairs like blisters on arches n stuff are nothing,by the looks of it your repair needs to be done perfect for it to be acceptable and more importantly buyable.
Tough decision but one only you can make with only you knowing were you stand financially,I mean can you afford to buy the other one and then wait till the current one sells or do you need the money of this sale to buy the new one?

This would have to be sold first because we're currently building a house as well and we don't have 1) that amount of cash to spend on cars without getting killed by my dad and 2) the space to put 4 cars...

Hi Debbie,
Shame to see that your cossie got some damage
If you want to make a proper car, then it's better that you repair the damage. And...this will cause some rust problems.
Ofcourse the value of a "special" car would be much more if it's accident free, but howmany car's from that age ARE accident free?? Because Ford decided to weld all the bodypanels, it's easy to see if it's ever involved in a accident.
Luckely I've spoken all the previous (2) owners from my EsCos. And none of them ever had an accident with the car....
Do you have some more pic's from the saff?? Apart of this part, it looks very nice

As long as it's not on the register, I can't see how it matters if it can be repaired to a decent standard.
There's not many cars left on the road that haven't had paint in some form nowadays, it's just one of the hazards of owning a used car.
Most concourse cars have been rebuilt with new wings, paint etc. You just won't find a 20 year old Ford that hasn't had something replaced due to rot or degradation so I don't see what the fuss is about to be honest.

Fixing it won't be a problem. Jack knows some people that can fix this so you'll hardly notice it afterwards and if we decide to have it fixed he'll keep an eye on it so it really is done properly
Yes it's for sale.
We'll see what happens

I wouldnt think twice about owning a CAT D car these days , insurance companys just hand them out willy nilly now just to get the claim sorted out sharpish .
I would consider it a little more if the CAT D was because it was accident damaged previously and get it inspected , but as for it been stolen rec then no wouldnt fuss me at all

Hi debs, a repair like the one on your cozzie is just one of them
things,i see on my travels loads of foreign fords driving around
with damage that would write them off in the UK.
the level of repairs is not really the same, but atleast your car
has the original panels that have been repaired.
my 3dr from luxembourg had a door and rear qtr+ sill repair,
probably from backending it around a wet corner too fast
