Anybody any experience of these? Mid 90's models.

How do they handle high milage?

What should I look for?

Look a good workhorse for the money, with a few toys

ive got a red manual t5r.1996 just under 80k miles.been the best motor ive ever had.id take that before id take my stage 3 escort.

id say look out for the electrics as said there expensive to rectify.
test the brakes hard they fade and boil fast if driven hard.i went through 3 front sets before i finally upgraded.mines is slightly breathed on but im planning on spending more on her.make sure the clutch box etc is good to.i personaly wouldnt but a manual version but its not me buying

good luck wish you alot of happy scooby bashing

I had this 850R for 2 yrs & it was a cracking car with 100% reliability, it had full main dealer hist from day 1 though.

I sold it in the summer & bought a new V70 R manual 300bhp what a tool & so rare, only ever seen 1 other on the road & only 8 for sale through volvo main dealers in the whole country !

There easy upgraded to 280 or 304bhp, just suffer from torque steer as u can imagine.

As above, easy upgrade, only difference in the two is if you go for the 304 you have to run on Super-Unleaded, the 280 will run on Std95 RON fuel so is much cheaper to run day-to-day.

The brakes are not up to the job on T5's as they used the same size discs as the poverty spec models Most use ferodo ds2500 pads, makes a lot of difference.

A few websites for you.

www.vpcuk.org

www.kalmar/union.com

www.partsforvolvosonline.com

www.swautos.co.uk

Stu @ SW Auto's has the most powerful 850 in the country i do believe, i've seen it a few times as his garage is not far away from me, supposed to be around 500BHP.
