155 MPH Limit Removal???
Hi peeps, anyone have a good idea how this is done, i know its done electronically, but is it down to the ECU itself??
Thanks peeps. |
The limiter is in the map.
|
Re-map needed to remove?
|
Not a remap as such, but the map needs bringing up on an laptop program to remove limiter.
So not the cost of a remap to do. BMW or Mercedes?? |
Nah Subaru Limited to 155, would like to remove it, but i wasn't sure how it was done.

Subarus are designed for going round bends not top speed challenges... Not a good move if you ask me, or you are likely to end up with melted pistons and spun crank bearings. Not to mention gearbox problems. |
you could be right, as the bonnet shakes like hell doing 150.

And you wanna go faster? Save your money and enjoy the country lanes.. :top: |
:D :D :D well its not done often only when its a good open road, im one of these people that don't like limits on things!!! But yeah its more exciting ripping through the lanes.
|
Touch :D

I could be wrong here but on some of the jap stuff - i thought the limiter was removable through wiring mods as opposed to entering the ECU through a laptop?
Never done one myself - but we've an auto electrician who does 'limiter removal' work for us and i've never yet seen him with a laptop  |
thats the 111mph limiter,,,,,, fucking stupid idea and considering the japs can fuck with anything electronic,,,,, that idea is only gonna work on there imported cars,,,,,, recon thee kids in japan could delimit the cars with there fucking computer knowlege

The first STi models featured higher power ratings than the WRX, while later versions of both WRX and STi were rated at 280PS due to the Japanese manufacturers' informal agreements around power ratings. Its top speed was electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph) and it had a 0–100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds you dont mean WRC RA or STI RA do you? |
Nope WR1 Only 500 made, car in question is build number 172!

Not 100% sure if below is 100% true or I..... A, made it up or B, drempt it but.......
Imports are limited to 180KMH (111MPH) when you have an electronic speedo conversion done so it converts the KMH to MPH elctronically it then moves the limiter to 180MPH instead.... |
Shouldnt have a limiter at 155...
|
This car is a Type UK version, built for sale in the UK market. Its Limited to 155MPH, just like your M3's and so on.
|
Off topic....but vaguely related...
Apparently if you go past 155 in 5th in an E39 M5, then hit 6th, it will sail past 155 (obviously) onto 180+. Love to. :DD: |
My E36 M3 Evo wasnt limited... sailed past 155...
I know when evos (6's) were released they were supposed to have a 155 limiter but they actually didnt. That was just the top speed of the cars with standard power. |
My DIESEL BMW has no limiter now ;)

My FRS was showing 158 on the speedo, GPS said 151. :blabla:

My M3 definitely wasnt as we had is well above on GPS as well as the speedo and actually off the clocks(170) once. My mate ( Carlo on here ) works for BMW and he says very few of them are limited. Get a GPS on your scoob and see what it does but i reckon its just the power and aerodynamics stopping it. I also bet the spoiler slows it down a good few MPH! |
my 3.0 M3 goes past an indicated 155, but then i've been told that they didnt bother to limit the 3.0 as they wont pull much past 160 with the power anyway, whereas the evo will pull 160+ happily, so thye limited them.
dunno if thats bull or not tho |
Jim mine was a evo....
And i know of a few other evo M3's that werent limited... |
