stack dash's

I understand that for a car to be road legal it needs to be able to record mileage????????????????? Do the stack dashs do this ?????/

Also would it be cheaper buying the full dash type or seperate rev counter and other guages, and do they come with all the sensors etc or is there hidden costs after the purchase of the dash unit??????????/

Cheers :top:

Dicko&Vacant Dec 28, 2006 08:22 PM

you need a haircut and a shave before you need a stack dash :blabla:

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 08:23 PM

Yes they do have a tacho, and if you buy new most need sensors adding as an optional extra.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/resour.../STA_ST700.pdf will give you an idea

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 09:12 PM

optional extra there essential and should come with imo lol

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 09:17 PM

So how much am i looking t for a complete set up for a road car then with the sensors etc???????????

gus Dec 28, 2006 09:27 PM

i think the triangle shaped dash is just over grand mark (i was looking a while back mind)

that put me off so brought all seperate gauges

spent a bit more then that now thou :wall: :wall: :wall:

NUTS RuS Dec 28, 2006 09:33 PM

2 types of sensor, mechanical and electrical, plus the array of fittments required make it impossible for them to sell a car specific kit.

You buy the basics and then add on what you need.

What type of set up are you thinking as that will depend on the price.

The 700 series (1 round pod) are obviously cheaper than the 8000 series (triangle type gus mentioned)

The 8000's are being superseeded soon so you could get one cheaper if people start to sell them off to make way for the newer ones ;)

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 09:45 PM

NUTS RuS

I want a decent road set up was looking at the triangl type but i aint picky really, just want a decent rev counter and easy to read speedo then the usual water temp oil pressure and temp etc, nothing fancy really :top:

NUTS RuS Dec 28, 2006 10:30 PM

Budget around £1200 for the set up you mentioned in Stack, and thats NOT a quote, just a figure to put in your mind.

Budget around £1500 for the 8000 series.

Plenty others out there in the market that people rave about like Defi's etc, right down to the £20 imported single pods from Taiwan etc.

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 10:43 PM

I'll have a decent look tbh i would prefere a single tacho with digital speedo built in and then seperate guages for other things ie boost etc.

I'll have a look on the stack site and get an idea :?

Alps Pacino Dec 28, 2006 11:10 PM

NUTS RuS

Is this what i need looks like it is $1400 dollars which is cheap as chips imo????????

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/stack4.htm

NUTS RuS Dec 28, 2006 11:45 PM

Yes If you can get one with free shipping and then avoid the import taxes vat and courier fees etc .

Then you could have problems with the American thread sizes on the senders so will need either adapters or buy UK specced ones from a UK dealer (unless you opt for electrical).

I'd still budget £1500 to get that over fitted and working correctly if I were you

NUTS RuS Dec 28, 2006 11:53 PM

We have had them, used them, and binned them to be honest.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/tij909/dash.jpg

They only have a small screen for the digital readout bits and although you can adjust the contrast once its fitted you cant adjust the angle.

Maybe fine on a road car where you are not so much concerened about lookin at pressure readings quickly (you have to scroll round the display a lot to find what you want) when needed in the heat of the moment they are pretty useless.

Alps Pacino Dec 29, 2006 01:04 PM

So what did you replace them with, i just want the best for my money and aint bothered about anything fasionable i just need funtional

NUTS RuS Dec 29, 2006 01:53 PM

Standard speedo / tacho was put back in with the addition of single oil/water/fuel pressure gagues and a seperate rev counter. Cost was below £300 second time round but cost was not the main motive it was readability whilst on the move that was more important

Alps Pacino Dec 29, 2006 02:02 PM

i dont fancy using the old guages tbh, think i'll just have a look about and see what i other stuff i can find, might look at the spa stuff

rsturbowhite Dec 29, 2006 04:37 PM
