i havent a anti virus at mo as such, ive got/tried, spy bot, adawre, got zone alarm fire wall, windows defender, and i tried to install a AVG antivirus the other day and it wouldnt have none of it.

borrowed a nortons disc from a mate, again, wouldnt have it.

and its slow at times, really anoyes me, i reckon a reformat might be only way.
oh i tried to turn system restore off, nope would have it, tried to restore it to early point, nope, from whjat i was told by a guy, it seems the files for restotre have been deleted as i have no restore points and cant switch it off.

That spybot thing is shit i tried that once and it fucked a load of my file's up and that AVG virus software aint much good. I use KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS and pc tool's SPYWARE DOCTOR they work well imo and to check for registry error's i use pc tool's REGISTRY MECHANIC if you know how to use bittorrent's then there free if you get what i meen If you've got your windows cd then run the repair program on there that will sort out some of you problem's like the system restore not working.

The user can manually create restore points, or System Restore can keep restore points during the following operations:

By default, System Restore monitors all partitions. So, for example, if you delete an executable file, you can have the system state revert to a specific restore point to recreate or repair the executable file. When you revert to a restore point, however, you lose all changes since that point, except for changes to files in the My Documents folder and documents you've created with applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

An alternative to the usual method of enabling and disabling Windows XP's System Restore feature is to use the registry. To use this alternative, perform the following steps: Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore.
If a "DisableSR" value doesn't exist, go to the Edit menu, select New, DWORD value, and create the value.

cheers for the advice guys, i will see what i can do, as for windows repair cd, i dont have one, never came with a cd, well all i got is a microsoft works 6 repair CD and even that wont load as my new hard drive (because of pc getting fixed) doesnt have it on there

mcfaee wont work well with my zone lab fire wall, or never did, last time i used mcafee it done more harm than good.


ive got avg anti virus on my pc, although it was a free download it needs a key code to make it work, and it never came with one etc so dunno how that gunna work.

as for restore, ill try it in safe mode and see what happens, think i tried it once before but cant be sure so will give it a go again

if you have no restore back settings your fooked ..

drag what you can off the pc any pics emails or vids onto dvds via data burn if you have a burner ..

pc needs a format

remember to word file all your passwords to sites that you use or write them down ..

on a fresh install get zonealarm ..on a disk

before you connect to the net and install it ..

i got a worm from ms updates home page..once within 3 mins of being connected to the net.. and needed a fresh install again ..

now i leave it for my pc buffty mate to burn the pc and replace xp pro

thing is i only got my pc back from insurance company about 6 weeks ago (cos dropped it) and they replace mother board, and gave me new hard drive with never windows, was a right pain cos i had zone labs anti virus on my old hard drive (which i got back but its infected, im sure of it, lol) and it was one of them links that had me.

it does look like i got to formate to sort it, and although i have a windows code i dont have a windows disc, my pc never came with one, loads of people say it would of but i asure anyone that asks, it didnt as i ahve everything that came with it in a box and theres just a repair dc for windows works 6 which isnt even on this new windows insurance put on so thats as much use as a dildo to a nun.

Linux is an opensource operating system, this means everyone can see the code so if there is a problem it can be fixed very quickly, it also means that you can change the system to suit your needs.
Its super stable and rarely crashes this makes it very suitable for webservers and infact passionford itself runs on Linux :-

Its a very different experience to Windows yet if your fed up with viruses, spyware and problems its worth considering, I have not resinstalled or done anything such as defrag on one of my systems for about three years and its still running without issue.

There are many types of Linux and some even run from a CD if you wish to have a look, I generally use a type (refered to as a distrobution) called Ubuntu which can run of a CD as well as be installed other popular Linux's are SuSE which is sponsored by Novell networks and PCLinuxOS and Knoppix but there are lots more and best of all its FREE

I type documents, surf the net, download music and video, send email.... but I dont get viruses, trojans spyware, browser hijacks --- ohh and I have my games console to play games on, if your a PC gamer Linux is not for you.

Dont get me wrong its a learning curve thats totally different to Microsoft Windows and its not right for everyone, but I like it because its smaller, faster and more secure... its right for me

when you run it it creates a text file in notepad post this file and I will inspect it for you.
Hijack this simply displays everything running on your system even if its a hidden process, this means if you have any nastys or virus issues it will probably show in the log

i dont play games on my pc TBH mate so that wouldnt worry me.
will look into it though, i have a spare hard drive that could do with reformatting so could always try it out on that and see how i get on.

anywho, i managed to get a key code for AVG, its only a triasl keycode so i only got it for 30 days but i done a scan and all i can say is DAMN
it picked up about 35 trojan downloaders and tracking cockies etc.
healled them and the stupid little bloon in the corner has gone
fingers crossed it says gone when i switch pc back on.
