Default FAO ALL: .::Bad Sellers::. Gold membership problem.

There is a problem that keeps recouring on here and its to do with Gold members paying teh fee and then selling an item but not posting it for weeks...

What do you think we can collectively do about it?

The "feedback" idea is the best but unless someone wants to design one that works well with PHPBB forums and pay for its development, then its a non starter.

Personally i think at the 2nd complaint you lose your membership and get banned. But its only a thought top of my head....

Discuss.

What about a feedback forum/room

Buyers/Sellers just collectively post about other users.

EG.

L33 BYT FEEDBACK THREAD.

Posted by *****

Bought RS Steering wheel great transactoin bla bla bla.

Keeps the crap out of General discussion but allows a user to look a prespective buyer/seller up before dealing.

Its a simple idea. Costs nothing just needs a bit of moderating.

www.vvoc.com use a system that works.

i know i've been guilty of it in the past so i dont really like to comment about these kind of posts, but a feedback system for everyone starting from scratch would be a good system.

Sorry, i should have clarified that a lot of existing systems do not work very well on big boards as they are made lazily and have massive request rates that tie up teh processor and system buses.

PF at peak can be serving over 600 pages a second, each with 40 users on, thus 24000 requests if the new mod only adds on 1, and they normally add on 10s...

Why ruin a currently stable site with tacky ratings systems. A room dedicated to feedback/vouch threads gives every one a chance to see reasons for a poor transaction or indeed a good one.

How about a sin bin for a certain period of time and if you are in the sin bin too many times ( twice for arguements sake) you lose your gold membership.

As above a feedback room would be a good start and like said 3 bad feedbacks and you get the boot or your gold membership taken away. I know sometime's you cant get stright to the post office but these people that are taking months to send stuff are just taking the piss no one's life is that busy that you cant take 10 minute's out to get to the post office or get someone to go for you

Stu - you can imlement a feedback system for php forums. The AV Forum I use has it and they are on php (I think)

http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php

Click any post, under the user name is the "Trader Ratin" and a number in brackets. Click on this and it shows the feeback that a member who has bought something can leave.

Maybe get Pet to contact the admin there and find out how to implement it?

I think that the room designed for feedback must be the simplest, as it requires minimal input from mods (other than removal of inappropriate posts!)

IMHO it provides the responsible vendor the chance to shine, and the sensible shopper to check their vendor!

This will rely on people providing feedback, but given that this is a forum, people are usually here to tell everyone without exception what they think!

If people offers something for sale, accepts money and then does not deliver it, then it is theft. I dont really understand the three strikes rule idea. If people do this, they should be named and shamed as quickly and as publically as possible. ePurchasing suffers enough bad press!

iin an ideal world that would be ok but as is often the case if youre face doesnt fit and a more popular member decided to set somthing going then you would get banned etc,bit like the posts now when a mod or his friends can say worse things than you,yet you get banned, shame, but its the newbies or the 1's thats not with the "IN" crowd, might sound stupid to some but it does happen, often on here!

www.zatzy.com use a rating system and that site runs smooth. Its about the same size as PF too.¨

Edited to say that it seems like they turned it off so perhaps they also noticed problems.

How about something along the lines of this:

When a part is sold, the advert is then put on hold (and still in the "required for sale section" for all to see until the deal is closed) and placed in a seperate room called something like "Sales Pending".

In the "Sales Pending Room"

The buyer has a maximum of 7 days (or something like that) to send payment via paypal, personal cheque, credit/debit card, direct bank transfer, paying by person into sellers bank account, etc

The seller then has 7 days maximum to send out the part WITH proof of delivery AND INSURANCE (and why not it doesn't cost that much more to proove its sent and to cover your ass for any losses!)

Once the deal has been successful for both parties, its then closed on the required parts for sale section.... or the item removed form the advert

The deal then goes from the Pending Room to something like the "Successfull Sold Room" or "Members Rating Room"

In the "Successfull Sold Room" or "Members Rating Room", both the seller and the buyer get to leave a comment about how the deal went. Two fuck ups and your banned for life and your details go an all the swinging and dogging sites in the UK

On each members profile, it then shows either a happy face for a pleasant deal or unhappy face for a fucked up deal. people can then look in the "Successfull Sold Room" or "Members Rating Room" to see if someones either a scrote or great person to deal with!

In the case where parts arrive late, dont turn up, etc, then 3 moderators are left to decide on the final outcome and decide between them. But bearing in mind all parts sent will have proof of posting and have some sort of insurance.

Maybe Official Traders dont have to do the recorded/insured postage as their verified official traders and could do with cutting costs and if something did go wrong dig into their kitty

A bit long winded I know but who else is fucked off with reading rip-off and late posting threads when there is no excuse for it what-so-ever!

Or cutting to the long of short of it 7 days to pay for it, 7 days to deliver it! Sellers should only sell if their prepared to pack and post and buyers should only buy if their money does the talking

I'll get my coat as no doubt half of you have gone to sleep now I now await the "lets rip this theory to bits band wagon"

As a trader on here i see people moaning a lot ( and quite right ) about buying parts of mr x and they have not got the parts for weeks

This IMO is just not acceptable ,, if you have the time to collect AND SPEND the money you have time to post the parts ,,I here some just stupid reasons why people say they havent sent the parts and would not accept any of them .

I think a simple section for feedback on sales section would be a great idea

You can go on there simple post

Bought a part from mr x ,, delivered in 2 days , as described ,,Many thanks ,etc etc

Or ,,Bought a part from mr x , still not turned up after 3 weeks etc etc

This way people can look who is good who isnt and chose who they buy from

Simple

ps ,, this will work for traders / private people all on the same page

I can see its going to be a lot of work, whichever way we decide to go with this.

The easiest way I feel, although dont know how possible it is, is to have maybe a + and a - under the avatar with the relevant successful/unsuccessful transaction values in, possible clicking on them brings up a feedback page?

What might be tricky, is to have a system similar to ebay, where feedback can only be left if 2 users have been involved in a purchase/sale, and also only be able to leave one piece of feedback.

Its not just the sellers that need feedback, its the punters as well.

I think it's a good idea with the 'Feedback' room. Only problem is that it'll get full quite quickly with all the positives and Negatives.

I personally would just put a 'Negative Feedback' room. This can work for both buyers and sellers.

Each post should only contain the buyers/sellers username in the title and obviously the complaint in the post itself.

This way, if your thinking of buying from/selling to someone, you can just look up their name in this room by scanning down the page(s). If it doesn't appear at all, then they're either a good buyer/seller or not bought/sold anything yet. If it appears lots of times then obviously stear clear of them.

It also gives the other party the opportunity to argue their side of the story on the same post and it can be finalized by saying whether it has been resolved or not.

Just thought I'd add my 2p's worth

approx how many official sellers/ traders do we have on here?

as said before just have a room for sellers feedback, a topic title for each sellers name, and the feedback can be left there,

then anyone who is a paid up seller MUST have a link in their sig to their feedback page.

edited to add; Then each seller would have ONE feedback thread, no searching involved and quick and easy access to people thinking of buying from them!

The problems i see with this feedback room is quite simple but large:

Its going to be a room FULL or arguments....

Example:

Topic by Mr Y. Bought a car of mr X, great sale.
Reply by Mr X. Thanks.
Reply By Mr Z He ripped me off though when i bought a car off him.

Mass arguing ensues....

And thats on a GOOD topic. Imagine when someone posts he has had a bad experience and all the mates etc jump on...

And no point showing me topic with VBul forums (Av is too Matt), as we are on PHP, but thanks for your efforts.

Maybe this is just my way of thinking but if you buy a car, then checks can be done before hand and you view, drive and buy the car before you pay for it. Your eyes are your judgement. There will always be discrepencies with used cars ...its down to the seller to know what their selling and be honest and the buyer to do his homework. Most cars on here are not the run of the mill bits of kit and only a total tool, walks in and buys blind IMO

It seems to be more of an issue selling parts on here and not cars and Feedback Room would be a great idea as long as both sellers and buyers know the rules

Posts can only be made by a mod is what I was thinking.

No bull, just facts times and figures involved.

People having trouble get in touch with the mod who intervines if no sucessful outcome then a post is made.

Once a 3rd impartial party gets involved things usually move on.

Kinda the way Martin helped in the Sketch/ChippedUK fiasco.

Stu,

is this a direct dig @ kelv ? i think, apart from me being friends with him, that EVERYONE should be rated. I did mention this in my rants / poll bout ATM already... At some point if you dissapointed enough people of this forum you should be banned from it, as easy as that.

So yes, we should have a rating system.

michael
A direct dig at Kelv? Why do you say that?
Admittedly his topic reminded me we need to do somthing about it yes, but its aimed at ANYONE who has taken the piss.

I ONLY use the post office and can have any part with anybody in the Uk by 1pm Tommorow. No IF's No But's No Excuses. For 32 extra that can include Saturdays or 9AM weekdays.

Everyone on here has heard of any can find, a post office, so EVERYONE who sells on here can be as fast and reliable as me. You want teh money, send the parts.
