I bought my Escos because it was my dream car when I was a teenager even though I only ever seen pics of them, then the local drug dealer got 1 Evo's might be better cars but theres better cars then Evo's and I think the Escos is a far better looking car then the Evo and the fact that they rare is why i'd probs never get rid of mine

evo is probs a better all round car but if you put the 2 next to each other it would be an escos everyday for looks and the icon factor etc. if i had the choice of the 2 both same power and spec i wouldnt think twice as to choose the escos. The only evo imo that looks nice is the 5

I can understand why people still love escort cossies and why they still get attention, even the 3dr cos although its not my cup of tea. The sapphire cos on the other hand I think is well dated and had its day.
If you remove the ford blinkers then you will see how good the evo really is. As standard it is quicker in a straight line and round corners than any standard cossie and is respected and idolised in its own country just the way cossies are in the uk.
Why has a cosworth got character exactly? I love Escort Cossies and like the design and styling of it but thats not what I call character. So what makes any Jap car not have character?

The Evo is the perfect combination of track toy and everyday reliability/usefulness. Also they are a bargain if you import yourself.
Porsche and BMW drivers here are turning to the Evos frequently - they handle very well - set up the corner, load up the tyres, and keep on the gas and the trickery gets the power down perfectly - tests prove them to be quicker out of corners than cars with twice their power. It compliments good driving - nothing to do with them driving themselves or anyone being able to drive fast in them...
Get things wrong and the computer can work against you - thats why people who like to get the tail out frequently or rally prefer the regular diffs which are more predictable in such situations.
Driving an Evo is a style of its own - reduced speed on entering the curve, then set up the corner and when the exit comes into view just plant your foot - very unlikely you'll need to feather the gas like you would on a FWD car - they just stick and go. Obviously you can play on the throttle if you like to move the back end out a bit, but it's not the quickest way.
Every car fan should try one out on the track - they may never be a legend like a Cossie, but they will be remembered in 20 years too, and certain models (TME, FQ400) will hold their value well.
I enjoy driving my Evo loads - but I'm still a Ford fan, and as such enjoy meeting other Ford fans and seeing cool Fords - moonstone 3drs being one of my favourites, which I'll one day also own.

I started this post for a joke 3 pages
seems there are people out there with passion for Ford and Evo , that cant be a bad thing can it
Either way we are all here on a FORD site because we all love FORDS so that to me says we are all the same realy
people choose jap mainly for reliability reasons and the fact they can still use them today when most cossies etc are all warm in the garage for the winter but its great that every evo / jap owner still comes on here as they still cant get ford out of ther blood no matter how good there jap cars are , and also they have many friends that they have made through the ford websites etc , All welcome if you ask me no matter what you drive because we all know that we all do and always will love the ford RS

I think some of this issue is that a lot of people on this board have been around for a long time probably started off on the RSOC BB etc. and if your like me had there first Escort RS Turbo in 1994 and then graduated onto the EsCos around 2000 etc. sold the Escort due to financial reasons and then when the time was right bought a Scooby STi8 and then went to the EVO after that
as a well known insurance company would say "change happens"

Day to day driving, definitely the Evo, I am averaging 29-30mpg on a long run and about 25mpg round town. The cossie on a run is less than 20mpg, I haven't driven it as such 'round town' because the speed humps prevent that.
I haven't had the Evo on track yet, I wouldn't have trusted the standard Brembos, the discs warp like hell. I managed to warp mine after less than 2k miles - but this week I had Alcon 6-pots put on off an FQ400 and they are brilliant I also had some MR wheels put on too, so now I have the old wheels specifically for track use
Scuse the crap quality of the pics.

People on here are saying there not common. Surley the fact that this is a ford forum and loads of people on here show otherwise.
In other words there everywhere!
Theres 2 down my street ffs.
Not saying there crap cars, but they are common. They'll never be a proper classic IMO.
Where as how often do you see a cosworth. Esc cos is definatly an icon.
