Default Written off cars--a few questions

OK peeps, as you may know i have a smashed up Mondeo now.....The insurance assesor is coming tomorrow and if he rights it off i need to sort a few things

How will i go about getting my private plate off it?
How do i go about getting the Tax off it as i had just put a years tax on it

The car is STILL yours until the insurance pays out so just get on and do it.

The thing that worries me is that once they have said it is a write-off (If they do) they will want all the paperwork....But i need that to sort the Reg out

wait until the assesor sees it then send the tax back.

contact the dvla and tell them to send the retention/transfer forms out Mark.

the plate can be put on retention instantly if you go to your local office with all the paperwork. so there would be no waiting around!
