Default Car insurance help needed please!

3 weeks ago I went through confused.com to find insurance for our Focus RS. MORE TH>N gave us a qoute for £428, so obviously being that low we went for it.
For the past week myself & my partner have been on the phone to them every day because we hadn't had anything sent out to us, they had taken money out of our account but for some reason didn't know who we were!
Well, we come to find out last night that we didn't meet their criteria & that we have been driving around with no insurance for a few weeks!
I'm so angry, if they new that, why didn't they contact us to tell us & why did they take money from us?!
They have offered us an appology by letter, which i'm not happy about, & a refund.

So, can anyone reccomend any decent insurers for us to try? As i'm a bit stuck now, the others quoted us around £1500!

Have you tried Confused again and going for the next best company? Or was the £1500 quote the next best?

MORE TH>N are VERMIN!!! I had a major blow out with them at the beginning of June as they had lost details of my 8years NCB that I had. They said that as the had no details then they could only issue me with the 1 year that I had been with them. Phoned their call centre in India just about every second night for around a month. Was promised it had all been sorted out and a letter would be on my doorstep in the morning. My new insurer was putting pressure on me as I couldn't provide proof of No Claims. New insurer then cancelled my policy and left me with no insurance for my car.

I had kept a copy of my proof of no claims that I had kept from Elephant from the previous year and offered to fax it to them to show that I had 7 years prior to going with more than. Then one morning I got a letter from them saying I had 4 years no claims and that would be the end of the matter. So I phoned them straight back and they said that I was a liar no such letter had been sent out. (Girl actually called me a liar!!) I said I have it in my hand - no you don't. etc etc. Eventually got a phone number for them in Birmingham and managed to get it sorted out in about 5mins. Guy was super helpful.

But I'll never use More Than again, have cancelled my Home Insurance and Pet Insurance with them and moved to other companies as their Indian Call Centre is a fukin joke.

WOW!
Wish I spoke to you before hand!

I just can't believe they let us drive the Focus with no insurance for 3 weeks, they never contacted us, it took us to chase them up every night to find that out!
Good job we didn't have an accident or get pulled by the cops!

Dont go with tesco either...just phoned up to update my claim
''you have not registered a claim''
''yes I did, 9.40 sunday morning''
''no you didnt''
''I called, there must be a record of that''
''yes, a record of you calling at 9.40am sunday and 7.40pm on sunday''
''what was I ringing for then, a chat?!''
''you didn't register a claim''
*bangs head on desk*

so just had to retell them the story..and be told again, that someone would be in touch tomorrow, later for her to say ''actually, 3 working days, so probably next week''

Grrrrr.

We're narrowing down the companies you have to try anyway Bex..

I'm now with Swiftcover. Price was very good and they have a UK call centre. I'd actually pay the extra on my premium for that. Cheapest certainly isn't always best.

Do a search on yahoo for Boncaster insurance, they do the RSOC insurance, and I have tried everyone, HIC, Greenlight, flux, etc... and they beat them hands down.
