Just disconnect your battery for a few hours, overnight if possible. Then when you reconnect take it out for a good long spin taking in plenty of different driving conditions (town and B-roads with full use of revs and gears) and avoiding too much cruising at constants.

No disrespect chaps but disconnecting the battery will do fuck all !
Phil you need to remove the KAM fuse on top of the fuse box its a yellow 20 amp bugger for 30 mins
KAM = Keep Alive Memory
Pull that bugger out and it will reset the ECU
Then you need to start allow to idle for 20 mins so it learns its new values then go for a drive should sort it
Regards Doug .

Ok, couldn't find that fuse. the only fuses i have are my ordinary fuses on the front and a load of relays on the top.
So i disconnected the battery and unplugged the ECU. I'll leave it for 30mins still tho

This is due to the automatic relearning of the engine management system to the actual engine and may be disregarded.'

Doug.. considering the eec-iv doesn't have a battery in it for any "keepalive memory".. how do you explain that removing the battery doesn't have the same affect as removing a fuse?

I had to update my idle valve and had to update my ecu with it.
When i plugged it in and started it up, the engine was still really warm so it set itself up, and when i started it from cold the next morning it didn't want to idle til it had warmed up.
I also had another problem i needed to sort out as well which i didn't notice so i'm gonna have to do it again now so it reads the correct values

So that it learns the correct values so it runs properly.
The air flow was restricted before and now i've sorted it's not idling properly co it's getting more air now than when it was when it was going thru its setup
