Default Track car decisions...

Now that my Cossie is nearly back together and my other cars are up and running im looking for something to do next...

I dont want to spend ten's of thousands of pounds but dont mind investing a fair bit into a decent track car..

Id like to have something that does have a good amount of power but wot i really want is something that REALLY does handle very well.. The 205 and the Nova are ok but stil front heavy,Fwd toys and lets face it a 1988 sapphire cosworth with shitloads of power isnt the best handling

Any ideas? owners of serious track cars?

haha the budget always goes to fuck you mean?

tbh i reckon a fully sorted 205 MI is more than a match for some "quicker" cars and would be VERY cheap!

a friend had a 2.0 vauxhaull engined westfield running on carbs which was a hoot on the road and i guess would be pretty handy on track too. That would come into your budget!

A properly spec'd and built XR2 should keep you more than entertained

For less than 10k you could get something pretty special together too…

Fast lap times and fun arnt the same thing though.

Thats what most people forget, spend 10s of thousands on a car, and granted, it laps faster, but is it 10s of thousands of pounds more fun, or even as fun as a different car?

I had a mk2 xr2 with near standard RST power (non smokey lol) but on coilovers + bigger brakes and was GREAT......

The nova is very quick in a straight line, fully stripped and about 180-185bhp, and the 205 with a cam'd 2.0 16v 306 S16 lump is very quick to but....they are just very heavy engines in the front with no wait in the back and well, u kno, not the best in the twisties... (Still good fun tho)

I do quite fancy a redtop on bodies ina westfield...but also would like something Ford

Definitly not mate...mine are only standard-ish cars with 16v engines...

A friend of mine has a 205 that has had nearly 12K !!!!! spent on it and handles VERY VERY well..and that is still running a tb'd 8v lump but is better than most cars on the track..

Im just trying to get some ideas and input...

Not a great deal, a friend of mine went from a mi16 to the S16 engine and the difference was only a matter of kilos...if i remember correctly (after weighing the car b4 and after)...

How about this

Funny as Fook

A Maestro, sticky black plastic, add few bits and bobs (cage, and stuff), add a rebuilt turbo block and a T3 or T34, = 250bhp and 750kg.

All for less than £2K
