Has to be a 15-20 match ban for me, If rooney got a 3 match ban for his elbow. You can even see Thatchers reaction to the portsmouth player who comes over.

Totally agree Tony, Thatcher had a look on his face when that player came over like 'oh f*ck moaning'
Rooney get's 3 games for his, which was pathetic, and I was there to see it happen.
I'm sure something 'out of the ordinary' will come of this case though, if it doesn't god help our footballnig leagues

looked bad in real time, looks awful in slow mo.
its one thing letting the attacker know your there, but that is plain filth.
doesnt look like anything can be done by the FA as the ref gave him a yellow, the FA can only retrospectivly punish if the ref has given nothing. Otherwise they would be seen to be underminding the refs decision.
Hope the dirty cunt gets a bad as that was plain filth

Thats the problem with a lot of players today. You see players that are full of skill and great to watch and then you have a talentless player like ben thatcher who has to resort to those sort of tactics or be a hard man to make up for your lack of ability.

I am a City fan, and that was a stinker, and i think Thatcher was lucky to only get a yellow,
but, it could have been in retaliation for something that happened earlier, unless you were there or saw the full match on SheikTV you dont know,
Still a wrongun whatever may have happened previous.
Says G who is 1 of the dirtiest players ever to grace the Manchester sunday league

jail him
how many more times can he do this, they showed a few of his previous 'tackles' on sky,he should do a job he has some skill for,as he aint a footballer, even by sunday league standards.players with no talent have to revert to these tactics

All i can say, i am glad Kevin Muscat isnt playing in any of our leagues anymore, IMO he was probably the dirtiest player ever to grace an English football field.

Taken from the official City site
Super Stu Pearce in his brief review of the game
Manchester City can confirm that Ben Thatcher has personally written a letter to Pedro Mendes to apologise to him following the tackle in the match last night.
Chief Executive Alistair Mackintosh has this morning telephoned Portsmouth's Chief Executive Peter Storrie to enquire about Pedro's health. The two clubs share an excellent relationship and everyone at Manchester City, especially Ben himself, wishes him the very best.
Ben Thatcher says: "Immediately after the game I tried to find out how Pedro was. I have written to him today apologising for what happened."
The Club does not condone such action and the matter has been dealt with internally by Stuart Pearce.

The game's main talking point came early in the second half, when Ben Thatcher's challenge on Pedro Mendes riled the visitors and saw the Portuguese midfielder stretchered off.
Of the incident, Pearce stated: "Ben's at sprinting speed, and when you run at that velocity if you get anything slightly wrong, it's going to look awful. There's no doubt that he's caught him, I've not had the luxury of watching it again but I don't want to see any player injured.
"Ben's been in to ask about him after the game, and we wish and hope that he's fine."
