Default Lotus cortina

Sorry for the quality of the image (from phone) but i thought this might interest a few people:

Belongs to an old fella i know, currently putting out 146bhp, he has owned it from new and its utterly mint

Cant be many "1 owner from new" lotus cortina's left these days, lol

Really nice motor, and the old boy has been driving it pretty hard for most of those 40 years from what i gather, so its a long way from just a showpiece.

Must fit him like a pair of comfy old slippers after over 4 decades together

I would imagine he would sooner sell his spine than sell his car, so i dont think the money would interest him.

He was head of engineering at Ford Dagenham, donkey's years ago and given his one as a company car (which he bought in the end)......

my mate owns 'FFA' which is well known in lotus circles, it was the car used in the great train robbery reconstruction and bruce reynolds drove it to plan the robbery in the re-construction

He was recently offered Ł35k for it and told the bloke to ram it....it is absolutly mint

i thought (as he is such a bufty with it) that he would drive it all girly like, but we went to battlesbridge, me in my old saff and him in his cortina and he came past me on sadlers roundabout sideways giving it everything it had, and you should have heard that twinky scream....fookin awesome

There is a lotus cortina club mate, you could try asking them, but the cars will no doubt all be overpriced rot boxes with hanging mechanicals like most rs500's are

I dont know the exact milage, but its HIGH, old boy had it as his only car for ages, and he was talking to me about "i took it off the road at 135,000 to tidy up the bodywork" and from what i gather that was a long time ago, so has done a fair few since!

Not sure how many times he has rebuilt the engine etc, he's extremely mechnically minded though, so will have done it as required, it doesnt smoke or knock or rattle though, looks and sounds like a new car as he drives off in it!

is this car an early one or a late one??? ali panelled+A frame back end or not, because if its an early car and with the history and is really tidy it could be a lot more than 30k
