Dilema : Do i keep the cossie or not ?
Probably the total wrong place to post this but im gonna anyway as i know not everyone on here drives a ford and lots have peeps have other performance marques.
Anyway, My stage 3 4x4 saff has just flew through its MOT and im thinking its optimum time to sell. Ive always fancied a skyline r32 gtr and recently even decent ones have come a lot down in price. Ive weighed up the pros and cons and still can not come to a decision;
Pros of keeping cossie;
1. the ford scene
2. ive spent the past 3 years (£'ssss) improving the car and is now suprisingly reliable
Things putting me of keeping it;
1. if i wanna up the power the cost of upgrading transmission is more than i would like.
2. ive never felt comfortable with the brakes and upgarding would mean more £'ssss and new wheels for them to fit
3. As good as stu is, its a pain having to go all the way to blackpool to get it checked/work done
Pros of getting a gtr;
1. If i take my time and find the right one a can have a reliable 380 bhp out of the tin
2. A good local tuner capapble if looking after a gtr
3. Outright performance
Cons of a gtr;
1. Unseen dangers of buying a new car
2. More epensive replacement parts
3. I dont actually know what there like to drive !!
I dont know what to do
Your thoughts guys ?
Also, if anyone has driven been in both a standard or stage 1 tune r32 gtr what are they like ?

a standard gtr wont feel that fast tbh, and a stage 1 cossie can easily beat them,
also the build quality is pretty poor in them and they dont seem to like having a bump.
this is just the R33 i'm talking about as my mate has one, he also has an R33 GTS, R34 GTS, supra TT (best of the lot imho) and is getting another R33 GTR which is already tuned to 450bhp (allegedly !)

as stated id probably buy a decent stage 1 gtr which are 380bhp
if i got greys for mine and went to 380 bhp in my saff 4x4 the stage 1 gtr would kill it i suspect ? would it not ?
fancied a supra a few years back but they were a bit pricey at the time and im not always convinced by there looks, what they like performance wise ?

i reckon the cossie would walk it tbh,
and the R32's are better drivers cars than the R33 or R34,

as standard the gtr is miles quicker than a saff 4x4 so how is the cossie gonna make it up ?

R32 GTR 0 to 60mph in 4.7 seconds.
4x4 saff 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 sec.
not bad considering the 60bhp deficit the cossie has and also that the cossie
4wd system creates much more drag and therefore more power loss than the GTR system.
but if you take a cossie to 280bhp, same as the skyline the figures would be very different,
also as a side note, i'd like to see a standard R32 GTR do 0 - 60mph in under 5 seconds,
i think nissan was having too much sherry the day they timed it.

most places i look say 5.2 for the gtr which is very good
lookin at performance ford etc most 380bhp(ish) cossie 4x4 do 0-60 in 4.5(ish)
a lot of 380bhp r32 gtr can do it in 4 flat or even under
i dont want to get rid of the cossie for sake of half a second anyway. the strength of the gtr's transmission appeals to me and supposed reliabilty at the engine at this power ?
I dont dislike my car, i love it, it basically equates to this.
I want more power and so if i decide this for cossie im looking the following cost;
2/3k ish - transmision
1k - new wheels
1k - new brakes
greys map - £700 ish
thats 5k at least !!!!!
or i could sell saff for 5k and buy a good, decent gtr running 400 ish with all the goodies needed for 7/8k ?

r32's are more like 4 grand there
i would choose the gtr over the cossie any day of the week, oh and if you get it from liverpool and your worried about crashing it you can spend the extra money on driving lessons

Nice to see some well informed and first hand comments from GOD, not
Plenty of people who used to have Saffs (And EscCossies actually) on here have bought R32GTRs and all rave about them.
Stg1 R32GTR will run an 11.9 with a good launch, proven many a time, and id like to see a Cossie do that.
Regarding power for power, I could post up that thing from TOTB if want, comparing power for power, where the GTRs with similar claimed power to the Cossies beat them on all the times, from acceleration, to 500m, to Top Speed.

Ancient (2003) but very relavent quote...
Just had a quick look at the Top 10 results.
Two 3 door rear wheel drive RS's:
Andy Wornell 126mph at 500m
Rob Wiles 123mph at 500m
Both with claimed 500+bhp on the website.
Pick a few of the GTRs at 500m:
Andy Barnes 130mph (550bhp est)
Glen H 127mph (540+bhp)
Mike Smith 126mph (515bhp)
The GTRs also pulled higher 1.25mile times, so in conclusion:
The GTRs were better off the line.
The GTRs were travelling faster at 500m (ie were not being caught)
The GTRs were travelling much faster at 1.25miles.
So if the 500+bhp Cossies are slower than the GTRs, how is a 420bhp Cossie ever going to keep up?
I use the speed at 500m, since that is a determinant of rate of acceleration from meaningful speeds ie 30mph+. The traction really only has an effect on the ET (elapsed time), hence why I ignored the times.

BTW, if was me, id not buy a Skyline, but thats just cause I dont give a flying fuck about drag racing and that kind of bollocks any more.
But if you want a good fast car to cane around, I think youl like a Skyline.
Not as easy to deal with with regard to fixing the fucker etc tho as a Cossie.
Wouldnt call em cheap to run or anything, but decent strong motors.

Sean and Renton bought a couple of R32's soooo cheaply. Comedy cheap cars and they are just amazing to drive.
Feel VERY modern to drive.
Sean put some Rotas (replica versions of my wheels) and it looks stunning! really really cool.
Its for sale. I would be biting his hand of if I was after an R32. Nice car
Personally I much prefer the looks of the R33 though

Rentons 32 is soo nice to drive, driven it a fair few times, it looks lovely too, and all GTRs sound the bollocks, straight sixes sound the tits
And yeah, didnt think about it like that, but if I was after a 32, id buy his in a flash, looks hard as fuck in the flesh, proper mean, wish it was for sale when I bought mine

Nope, dont think so, got a pic?
Heres some pics of Milko Petes (used to have an EscCos) totally standard looking one (Hasnt even got the Nismo option parts 99% of cars seem to have) on Bee-R rims tho...
He ran a 12.4@109mph in that on STANDARD boost too, almost 110mph terminals in a standard motor, regardless of what it is, is bloody swift!
