I just don't understand why someone would spend lots of time and even more money building a mental car, only to break it as soon as it's done - either drive it and ejoy it for a while, or sell it as a whole and accept you will lose money on it (as by spending loads of money on new bits for the car then selling the parts for less means you can't be THAT worried about the cash)

a) the car is worth MUCH more than your typical 16k esc cos. Id want to see at least £24k for the car as a whole. This isnt going to happen, so it will be broken
b) Im realistic, im not out to make loads of money by breaking it. BUT there are a hell of a lot of top notch parts that wont be cheap.. but WILL be cheaper than going new. TBH, i just want rid.. so everything will be priced well to sell
INCLUDING the shell.. I will let that go with the ID at a very favourable price depending on what the buyer wants to have left on it

Well done Dave i got 13k back on my replica...more than i paid!!!!
Atleast you realised its a replica WRC car with a sunroof and looked like it and everyone thought that no matter how good it looked.
It just aint worth it...BUT be warned this M3 you so want will loose a hell of a lot more money!

Thanks for all your pm's.. ive replied to them all I think.
Will be putting up a proper post over today hopefully and will update as I go along.
As noted, am awaiting the sale of the shell.. so if anyone is serious, get in contact and im sure I can sort out a good deal on it for you for an asap transaction. Can be trimmed / rolling or bare -ish ....

Don't get me wrong there are days he takes the M3, and loves it for what it is(and so do I!!!), but you HAVE to admit that sometimes the M3 isn't the be all and end all....... no car is........
To say an M3 is more fun than an EsCos(Stage 3+) is just mental IN MY OPINION!!
Out of the 2 cars the BM will ALWAYS be more sensible, but at the end of the day that's why an Escort is fun, it's not sensible, it's a bit lairy and that's why people love em............
Over and OVER again you go on about the M3 as if no car in the world is better.
Maybe Dave wants to go more sensible and that's fine, it's his choice and all, but just take the blinkers off for once!!!
And finally I have to agree with Phil, EsCos in good condition do nothing but keep their value........

Shame you never set any times or speeds with it. I would always feel i never found out what it what i had built and was capable of if i didnt set some times at the pod or brunters or even just do a track day in it to see how it behaved on track.

Shame mate.. a real shame
You won't regret buying an M3 thou I've spent hours looking for an alternative just because I fancy a change and the warrenty is near the end, but for the money nothing touches it. The only car I would consider at the moment would be a 997 and that twice the money
So I may just get a newer M3 .. they are that good!

It's a shame you're selling it in bits but if you've finished what you started out to do and you're not into the 'driving' of it then there isn't much point in keeping it. TBH, it's far too nice to be ragging around a track or something anyway. Shame no one is prepared to spend 24k on it as it's definitely worth that and you know someone will buy an escos for 14 grand or sommat and end up spending well over another ten and yet it still wont be anywhere near as nice as yours
Good luck with the sale mate
Oh, and quality DnB set btw. Listening to it at the moment

Shame to see such a nice car being broken but can totally understand your reasoning. Only thing I don't get is how you can get bored so easy. Surely if you're into cars enough to wanna build them, you're gonna be into driving them?

I'd say I'm the least blinkered having owned 4 Fords along with Toyotas, Vauxhalls, Rovers, Saabs, Audis, Hondas, etc, etc. Dave is apparently buying a CSL, not an M3 You'll notice the only time I stick up for an M is when someone shoots them down who clearly has never driven one. I still enjoy Fords, but HATE blinkered people and yes I'd have a CSL over a Cossie, that however doesn't mean I'm blinkered
