I'm sure the Veyron is the fastest standard production car, but in the US there are some companies that bolt big turbos etc onto cars and sell the complete cars converted so thye are a kind of production car, but not standard.

Im sure i read somewhere a while back about a corvette that done 262mph or summit? and it was available to buy if you had the wedge?

IIRC, the fast yank modded cars, viper, corvette etc that you can buy brand new from tuning companies were all claimed top speeds nothing has actually beaten the veyron yet.

there was a modded Dodge Viper that was supposed to be the biz, dunno how fast though. And even so i doubt they are a patch on the veyron :top:

When you say 'fastest road car' I always think of fastest point to point car not fastest mph top speed. I dont know many roads without lots of bends in. Point to Point I'd go for a tuned 911 turbo most days of the week, compact, reliable, 4wd and plenty of accessible power.

Veyron can accelerate from 0-183mph in 16.7 seconds, no road going car will piss all over that, maybe something could beat it yes, but not piss all over it, no chance :cool:

Plus the Veyron is 4wd so its alot more useable more of the time than some RWD machine when the road isnt snooker table smooth or perfectly dry.

I believe the top speed for a production car goes to a Very tweaked Saleen?? Had lots of options of power too. Definately had a higher top speed than the Veyron anyway 260MPH? Willdo a search for it.

I was still under the impression that the only car to do that top speed was the veyron. The other 2 hadnt actually done it? Plus when taking into account the fact that the veyron is quicker 0-200 than the mclaren is 120-200 I don't think anything else is keeping up with it somehow :cry: :cry:

Veyron has a verified 253mph top speed, Saleen a quoted/make believe top speed I believe ;)

There is a LOAD of BULLSHIT 'claims' and dreams on that list!!!!!!!

THe Ford GT90 concept never went above about 50mph I think, let alone doing 235mph!

VERY few cars on that list (possibly just the veryon??) are capable of getting over 200mph in the space Rods does it, those top speeds are for with endless space available, not within a mile and a half of acceleration space like at brunters.

Thought that the veyron was limited to its top speed for realibility so could be faster and if uv got the money surly u could mod it if u dare :bowdown:

Its in a lower state of run (bhp per litre) than a stage 3 saph, so yes blatantly you could easily make it more power.

Im sure 2000bhp would be pretty easy from the engine, just a case of wether the gearbox and cv joints etc could cope!

Would like to see that, the first 300+mph road car :eek: old rod best start saving for that jet engine :thumbup:

I'm sure I remember reading about the gt90 tests and it did something like 190mph but without the turbos connected as there was some sort of problem with them? This was years ago though so my memory of it might be wrong.

why on earth would they use a low comp turbo engine without the turbos to try and do a top speed test?

and surely they could afford new turbos if those were faulty.

either way it still supports what porkie is saying that hte 235 is just "estimate of what it might do" not something that was ever done

I know it sounds weird mate, but I just seem to remember thinking to myself, wow however fast is that car. It didnt even need the turbos to do that speed, remember it was back when nothing else was really doing speeds like that. I agree that most of the cars on that list have never done what theyre supposed to, which is why I still think the veyron is the fastest road car.

Lets see their Speed at 1.5 miles & then a comparison can be made ;) .
The Macca f1 long tail did 211 in a measured 1.5miles & be assured mine will better that ;) . It took over 5 miles to record its Topspeed.
A dynoed 960bhp Viper managed 215 in that distance. Bring them to Brunters & you will see just how fast my car is over that discipline. ;) .

I think the veyron hits 200 in around 22 seconds. How fast does your car hit it at brunters Rod?

You're probably right mate. I still like the fact that you could beat the macca to 200 if it started at 120 and you started from a stand still :cry:

Those figures are correct we recorded 24.4s 0-200.
However this was pre Nitrogen push & we went through 180 in 19.4 on that run. We have since recorded 0-180 in 17.8 suggesting a 0-200 in around 21/22s when we get back to Brunters. We really can compete against those cars at 1.5 miles then im afraid its gearing (218 max for mine) & aero-dynamics (a Taxi)
