Default Focus RS front brakes - effective?

Trying to get about 10 questions down to a couple here

Is the standard setup generally viewed as a good piece of kit or does it fade really quickly?

Are the mountings any different to ST170 setup, does anyone know?

I had a set of Esc Cos front brakes with Ferodo pads on my Mk6 escort before, which were superb! Have now transferred these to my "daily" car so needing something to replace!

Ooooh.. final question! Are these like rocking horse shite amongst the breakers?

Many thanks,

Ralph.

ST 170 and RS Calipers have different mounting centres.

Focusv8 - Do you know how different the mounts are? Is it an offset issue?

Could you not swap to Focus RS brakes, on your ST170, for instance?

Ford claim the car will stop from 100mph in just 4.1 seconds.
So yes they work!

The bolt holes are different centres and the disc on RS is thicker.

You can't just Swap Calipers RS to ST, the Knuckle assembly is different and more.

I've got a RS front brake assembly inc driveshafts, knuckles etc laying around and
I have ST discs etc which are fitted to my Focus.

Not parting with RS setup yet..

LOL @ knuckles!!

On our mk5 & 6 escorts they're known as spindle carriers!! Anyway.. thanks for that link, can clearly see what you mean re. the bolts not lining up!

It sounds like to fit FRS calipers on a non-RS focus it would be best to modify those "knuckles", rather than keep replacing other items with RS varities until it all fitted nicely!

As far as I can see, it'll be a case of modifying my escort setup to accept them!
