Default Rev counter on S2 running Efi

Hi all,

I've managed to get my hands on a set of efi dials and now the revs dial actually moves lol however it's no ways correct, it appears to be over reading by 1500 rpm on idle (so showing 2500 rpm @ idle).

Any thoughts??

Cheers
Bobby

I'm guessing you have converted the car to run EFI

You need the counter from an EFi XR3i or Orion 1.6i Ghia. The Efi system uses a wasted spark (sparks twice on each stroke) this makes the non EFi tacho over read by about 2x

Strange 'You would of thought it would of read correctly'

One way, ‘before you swapped over the clocks’ would have been to run the original rs rev counter by taking a wire from pin 11 on the EDIS unit to the rev counter
As this is a clean rev counter sig, and would have read correctly

But it’s a bit late now

Cheers

Forgotten to put a suppressor on the rev counter wire?

Only thing that I think it can be, unless you've got another problem with the wiring itself.

Thanks for the replies.

I cant work it out either to be honest, with the mfi dials the rev counter use to under read so on idle it use to so 500rpm.

or just on cold start

and on cold start it ticks over at 2500 but then drops down to 900 when starts to warm up
