right my brother has a 1999 ford focus 1400cc and he is wanting a bit more power. Does anyone know what engine would be an aesy tranplant ie a 2.0 zetec or would a zvh motor be an easy transplant and would there be any difference on wiring looms. any help appreciated

Cosworth YB. Fabrication is only around 1500 squid and then build a sapphire cosworth into it.

In all seriousness 2 litre zetec should be an easy conversion just buy a written off focus and swap the wiring, engine etc.

sell it & buy something else, the 1.8 & 2 litre engines work the other way round to the 1.4 & 1.6!
easier to buy a 1.8 & work on that.

he wont sell it as he has done loads too it. ie: wrc focus kit, 17`s, nice sterio. he lives in ireland and insurance is a bit extreme over there so want to put a bigger engine in and not tell anyone if you know what i mean. so you think it will be too much hassle? when you say the engines work the other way round what do you mean?

i know on the 1.6 & i think the 1.4 is the same, the exhaust manifold comes out of the rear of the head, whereas the 1.8 & 2 litre it comes out of the front of the head, also a lot of them have the alternators on differant sides of the engine. If he wants to do the conversion he would probably be bast to get a salvage 2 litre focus to use as a doner car, at least then he will have every thing he needs.
