Default Mk4 rear lights not working properly...

Why are they so shit!!

I've just been out to mine and the nearside light dims when the brake light comes on (my lights are set up the same as Saffs, brake light is seperate from driving light)

Also my fog light switch indicator comes on

is this just a case of the actual light holder connections breaking down?

Its one of the things I failed the MOT on so I need to figure this out...

ya best off cutting the plug off mate < make a note of where things go> then use small spade conectors to conect the wires to the lights ,

that should sort it , ive done it 10 times atleast

bad earth mate 99% sure of it. very common. clean the terminals in the multi plug an should sort it. failing that i think you can still buy new plugs etc from ford.

i found that the connections corrode badly...

I cleaned them all up, and no probs now...

the brake light used to flash with the indicator

unfortunately this light problem seems to be common on mk4's.. can get new bulb holders too..

I know this sounds really wierd but turn the brake bulb around 180degrees and put it back in! Mine used to dim when i broke, turned the bulb 180deg and it now works fully. Simple yet effective
