Yeah the twin turbo setup is ridiculously complex and i would have no interest in retaining it.

Ive driven a few with 600odd bhp rated singles on them, and they have no lag and tons of low down power, the twins are pointless

Here is a REALLY good write up on there and good pictures etc

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm

(its lots of pages, just keep clicking "next page")

Im DEFINAETLY going for a rx7 next, it was a choice between that and an evo, but this is all fascinating stuff and i really want to learn about the rotary engines so I will try and find an engine cheap somewhere to pull apart i reckon

Steve, when it comes to a rebuild, obviously the entre outer housing is effectively the bore walls in terms of needing to seal against the rings (well rotor tips).

If there is where on this wall, i dont see how its possible to rebuild it then, as you arent going to be able to machine it out to the next size and fit a larger rotor, or a longer rotor tip.

So once they have scored the housing, or worn it, i assume you have to just throw it away and buy a new housing?

Or is it a cause of that typically the housing wears so little compared to the rotor tips that it is effectively good for endless use, ie it will last 10 times as long as the rotors or something so good for ten rebuilds?

Not got the space at the moment, so wont be able to get that one, i nreally need to sort out my current set of cars before getting any more. Im going to sell 4 or 5 of my other cars first, get rid of some of the car storage i rent currently and get another useable workshop as mine got tore down to build trendy flats

That car is a ball park car as 18 months ago they were 6k+
for even high milage cars. Plus a lot of people are importing
them to so the prices are gonna fall

I just keep buying more cars without getting rid of the old ones.

for example my mini convertable, i spent thousands of pounds and a massive amount of time doing a total nut and bolt rebuild on the engine to a very high standard, and then drove it for 1500 miles, got bored cause nothing needed doing on it, parked it in storage and ive been paying 20 quid a month for it ever since, despite having not even seen it for over 3 years

I really REALLY need to sort stuff like that out and get it sold and gone before i start aquiring any more toys.

They are so cheap in Japan - like the Mk4 3i of the Japanese boy-racer scene

Are you sure you will fit into it Chip? Get an 8 at least you can open both doors so you can get in and out!

Or are they crap to tune against the 7?

No they not

They no cheaper than any other sports car of its age over there.

And they still competitive in track attack events.

They made em until 2001 as well.

And yes, 8s are n/a so crap to tune.

And turst me, if AJ who runs Sterte Garage can fit in one (hes got a mental one) then Chip can, as AJ is huuuge.

You actually driven one?

Ive got big wide boats for feet and i dont have a problem with the pedals. Have trouble with Saxos tho with my feet
RX7 pedals are a bit offset which takes a lil bit of getting used to, well, i just make sure my feet are on the right pedals before i set off

You sit how you should on an RX7, low, on the floor, in the seat not on it, like a proper sports car, which it is.

Yeah Steve driven one and that it with the pedals, though my drive wasnt that far so didnt really get time to get used to it.

I know how you sit in them, its cool for fun car but! But i could live with it all the time etc. Just my opinion, as you prob think there perfect. Dont get me wrong not taking anything away from the car though as they are very cool, and love the way they look when slighly moded

Good cars, they get labelled as chavvy motors as there are so many about, but that doesnt actually detract from the handling etc IMHO

I would be reluctant to tune one far though due to gearbox issues, much like i would feel with an escos really.
