Default Does anybody know any decent places to buy a gearbox??

Ive had a quick browse in the non rs/xr parts section.

It is for a friends 2.0i Ghia Mondeo estate (on a 95 plate iirc). He took the car in for a diagnostics check & the garage have pinpointed the gearbox being "on its way out" as the cause for his high fuel consumption.

He saw a Zetec gearbox on ebay for £30 but wasnt sure if it would fit (sorry im assuming it was newer than his car so he didnt bid for it incase it didnt fit).

Does anyone know if any automatic gearbox from a similiar model car will fit it?

Any help will be really really appreciated

Regards

Nick

p.s. based in Peterborough, nears Cambs

i did think that too from a cost point of view a recon auto box hes been quoted so like you say if its not then hes just throwing money away. the cars probably worth 1000-1500 now anyway so may aswell just run it into the ground.
