Nothing like being comfortable with one's garage

I didn't see a garage thread like the toolbox thread so if I missed it, apologies.

I love it in mine. Didn't happen overnight but after a while it's developed a character all it's own.

I thought it might be taken that way but I usually get genuine questions and many are looking for ideas and answers. Like the tiles. I swept the floor and put them together like a puzzle. Each bay took about 2 hours and was around $500 US. Try that with real tile or paint. Paint takes weeks and doesn't even look as good.

The lift, fell in my lap, so to speak Many thanks to the friend that hooked me up with one of those situations that I just couldn't pass up. Cost me less than half of retail and the deal included the tiles under it.

I'm usually the guy others look down their noses at. To hear I'm showboating might be a bit true on hindsight but after decades of seeing scores of others doing it I figure it's about time this dog had his day.

To the other positive remarks, many thanks. Hearing that from fellow petrol heads means a lot. :-)

And to make matters worse in your eyes, people here are whining about our prices. I however, am not one of them. I visit the UK from time to time and lived there 5 years. I know.

From garage threads I regularly visit on other forums, don't take the Porsches as a sign I'm a follower, just happens these are Porsche guys garages.

This is one of the major reasons i want to move to the states as daft as that might sound.

For someone as into their automotive stuff as me, it's heaven over there.

Not exactly easy to get in though, money aside.

Talk about life long ambition.

Thanks, I do love being in my garage. As for the green machine on the lift, it's the one everyone over here walks away from as if in disgust when they find out it has a 4 cyl. Yes, it's an Alpine. Never wanted the one they cutting torched and stuffed the V-8 in. Though they are worth more dough.

If you like offroading, generally larger homes/properties, vast miles of roads or you're into guns, America's the place to be. If you like cars in large varieties, or if you like being around people that understand a cars handling is as important as it's acceleration and braking then maybe you're better off where you are. Here it's all about hot rods and muscle cars (I should hope to shout) and people that slow down for the most gentle of motorway bends. Oh, and most people here think everything was developed first by Americans. It's Ridiculous.

Arrange to be here when your wife gives birth and you're in. It's surprising how many manage to use that method. There are other methods I'm sure as we hear story after story of how many do not go through the official channels to become citizens. One thing's for sure though, it's nothing like New Zealand or Australia.
