Wheel Options Need Help for XR4Ti- BBS RS Style
Hi guys, I'm new here and I have a wheel question. I was looking at the possibility of importing wheels from the UK to Canada for my XR4TI. This will be expensive so I have to get it right the first time. I have to have 17", no smaller.
Here are my options (unless you have more suggestions): BBS RS - Not available in 17" easily, or 4x108 and very expensive Dare DR-RS - I read that they do not clear front calipers and lower quality. Lenso BSX - Nothing wrong with them I suppose, however pricey. Caliber Vintage - No idea about these at all. J&W wheels - Only available in 7" wide, otherwise very nice. Let me know what I should choose for best fitment on a Sierra. With the exchange rate and everything I need to ask before I do anything! Thanks |
What about converting to 5 x 112 using some mk3 Granada hubs, will give you a bit more choice?
|
I tried a set of new Caliber Alloy wheels and managed to buckle 3 of them within six weeks. I was running 40 series profile tyres.
It might say just as much about the UK's pot holed covered roads, but when I went back to a genuine Ford set of wheels, using the same profile tyre, no problems. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for, I found out the hard/expensive way. |
I thought about swapping hubs, but there was no Granada in North America and that would mean I would have to get scorpio parts and those are pretty hard to find up here as well. I don't want to import all the parts I need, I'd rather just find wheels that fit if I'm buying wheels anyway.
I'll go ahead and scratch caliber alloy wheels off my list however. |
17" diamond cuts
|
is that a brand?
|
No, 17" Ford RS 7 Spoke alloys with a diamond cut finish were an optional accessory wheel over here.
They look ace on Sierras but have poor front brake caliper clearance if you have anything other than standard brakes. |

Did you get to the bottom of this predicament?
I read Calibre wheels had bad clearance for the breaks? Just been looking at the Dare Dr RS myself, like the look of them but won't buy them till I know there is clearance for breaks. |
