1600 escort diesel injecter pump

Default 1600 escort diesel injecter pump

hi, do i need the crankshaft locking tool when takeing off a 1600 escort diesel injecter pump, or can i just take it off useing timeing marks on pump and cambelt, seems u screw it in turn engine to lock on it, but then timeing marks out. its on a woodruff key shaft

The timing mark that goes out of line as you put it, is not a timing mark at all, it is just a mark on the pump to let you know that the engin is coming up on tdc on the compretion stroke and not on the exulst stroke I am at the moment trying to put back together my engin and it dose look like some one has prviously timed it with the mark as a timing mark god know how it was running before my pump leaked I am going to have to put it back how it was now. I am having hell I can not believe some people try to do a job like this without reading the manuel as they do so.

hi, no u aint lol, i have locked mine up with a pin and turned it and marked it, trouble is i now cannot get a pump for it, as mine is to far gone, so looking for a 1600 engine or 1800 non turbo to put in, but cannot find a mk 4 escort one, i need one without any fancy electronics, thanks

Glad you still have yours, if you are like me you love it. I have two of combi's 1600's the one that I have just had the pump done on is now running but like a bag of nails. I need the tool to time the pump as it will not go right on the original mark, they must have allterd it when they stripped it, Assuming they have not messed it that is. I now have a good van one I did up, you can see her on my youtube site, tap in "pepersorte" in Youtube search bar and all my crap comes up I have 42 vidoes on there . Four of the work I did on her, She was going great but developed a leak that was why I took pump off and in to be done,
Well I have thought of getting an 1800 none turbo but like you say you cannot get them easy. In my manuel it says they can do 59 to the gallon. that would do me esspecialy when I tow the small caravan I have made out of another scrap escoert combi I broke. I did break for of them over the resent years and have lots of parts but sorry to say the only 1800 engine I had we could not do anything with and at the time did not need it so it to got scrapped. what a wolly i must have been back then...
My white combi is up for mot now and I will drive her for this year and sort the other one in the mean time.
Well hope you can find the bits for yours soon, Ain;t it great having a motor that dose 70 plus to the gallon on a god run. My white combihas been down on the continent four time now but as she has been aroun the clock three times she is getting a bit hard to start in th mornings. still I will manage. Cheers Pete

i go at least 2 scrap yards a week, ebay everywhere cannot get mine back on road yet,
