Default Who owns a xr4i

Who on here currently owns a xr4i. Be interesting to see how many about, according to a website there's only about 180 left.

How many miles its done?
What mods has it got?
What condition or how many bits is it in and
Is it mot'd

i have a white one, currently off the road for the past 5 years getting a resto, nearly done, genuine 68,000 miles, has genuine ford cosworth front bumper and grill fitted, brand new escort cossie wheels and 3dr interior.

just in the middle of refurbing all the running gear, might get it finished this year with any luck.

cheers Matthew

I know of a black one, in the Chesterfield/pleasley area, wheels, exhaust, not too bad condition, wish I'd got the money to buy it

If I got one, I'd be keeping the standard bumpers and grill, there ugly but cool. 3dr interior, lowered on escos wheels I think

Sounds very nice Matthew, any pics or a resto thread?

Jammers: I know what u mean about grill and bumper lol

I see that xr4i on eBay, I would want more comfort as itv would be for the road

Cos 4x4 I love your 4i.That would prob be exactly same spec as I would want one. Pm me if you ever want to sell it.
I didn't know you could get 300mm discs under 16inch wheels. How much difference did it make to braking.

I have a nimbus grey 95k turbo technics 240hp xr4i. With a few 3 door bits and a well used but solid White one with a 24v boa and a bit of gas. Used for track days. Brilliant fun cars without the expense of a cosworth!

D16- I see pics of your new one on the xroc site. Very nice!
Big wig-I like your car but it has lost its 4i look, I would be tempted to make it a complete cossie rep

Are they stuck over the top wings or complete replacements? I've never seen a kit like that before.

I have three but they all have the Brazil built 2300 SOHC and turbos on 'em, and an ugly front bumper that looks like a groupers lower lip. And strange badges that don't say Ford on 'em, they say Mare-koooor or some such twaddle.

And I have one with a nice Cosworth 4x4 engine and 4x4 box and a nice cage in it...

Do they count?

Bugger Ford couldn't spell.

There's still several thousand of them around and a couple of forums for them (although the same people put the same posts on both)....

Some silly bastid here makes reproductions of all of Fords old Group A Bilstein suspension and big brake kits and that guy was the inventor of the Supra diff into Xratties kit (for a fraction of the UK copy!).. Go to Google images and type in "JVAB Sooper bitchin " Lots of amusing piccies like this:

283 x 32mm brake kit with correctly sized Willwoods ( I'm convinced a lot of the talk of the willwoods being "flexy" is from guys running much bigger pistons than is right eg 4 x 1.75" and getting a mushy pedal rather than 4 x 1.625)

Ive got a caspian blue one, but its standing still for a while, bought it for 250 quid, was standing for 9 years, drove it tree years, got ill, got it in a shed, and its standing still for 4 years now, but im building a 2.8 efi single turbo, if it all works it will have bout 285 horses. Need new sills and a bit of welding, but ill get her running. Its from 85, dealer fitted yellow koni, ford lowering springs, cossie grill, and cossie rims, got a cossie bonnet in my shed for it, but still no energy to do much bouth the car!
