Who owns a xr4i
#41
This is mine!
Bought abouth 2 months ago. The car was left in the garage for five and a half years, and the owner didn`t wanted to work with it anymore, so it was a bargain for it.
No mods, all stock, except front grill and bumper.
Odometer shows 54200, but probably made 154200
Car need`s a lot of work to do...
Firs time when i saw it...
Put on R14 RS rims and washed...
Interior, mess...

here is mine, picture of about 6 years ago, car was on a scrappy, bought it for 250 euro's, took 3 days of work to get it mot'd, only co was a bit high. first day mot'd i took it for a 400 km ride. after about 1000 km i blew my first t9. 3000 km later i blew my second one, and i got used to the 140 horses, so i nicked my brother in laws fresly built 2.8 (180 horses) with some tweeks, and t9, and got that in it's place in a day or two.
drove it for about 250 km and became ill, that's almost 6 years ago, and it hasnt been on the road since.
it's a 85 one, original cossiegrill and alloys, no red stripes in the interior, all white.
i'm planning to get it on the road again this summer, some light welding, close up the exhaust, change the full steel trackday engine mounts for rubber ones, maybe get after another t9, or a mt75, and fix some electrical issues like a failing alternator and fix my radio. few new tires, and some new brake parts and i'll be done for now, turbo engine (t3 super 60, efi'd, lowered compression, better rods, bolts, bearings, pushrods, new cam, high flow oil pump, oil cooler, cossie rad and intercooler, mt75 gearbox, lsd diff / rear disc conversion, front cossie brakes and konies, all poly bushed)
and the best use of a picknicktable on the rear of your car (sorry for the phone pic, was nokia 8810 or something like that!

I've got one, been dry stored for 12 years, no rot, full cossie kit, tucked up in my barn, I'm collecting the bits to put it back to standard condition. Another 12 years and I'll recommission it. I've also got 106 xsi's rallyes and a load of other 80's 90's foreign stuff!

Yeah! Except over here they were an "orphan car" cause of the sales set up where they were only sold at select Lincoln/Mercury dealers and sold very poorly. Then mechanics acted like they were something odd (when in fact the engine and EEK!4 system was common and current but mechanics would just blow off customers so a huge portion of the cars would end up neglected and sitting and they get in some clevor-trevor's words (me) kinda ratty, then guys like me come along and resurrect 'em and clean 'em up and then they weren't "ratty" any longer and so logically the were 'formerly ratty" or (groan) "ex-ratty" or Xratties".
You stand back a few paces and that 4 looks a lot like an A..XRATI.
Bugger Ford couldn't spell.
There's still several thousand of them around and a couple of forums for them (although the same people put the same posts on both)....
Some silly bastid here makes reproductions of all of Fords old Group A Bilstein suspension and big brake kits and that guy was the inventor of the Supra diff into Xratties kit (for a fraction of the UK copy!).. Go to Google images and type in "JVAB Sooper bitchin " Lots of amusing piccies like this:
283 x 32mm brake kit with correctly sized Willwoods ( I'm convinced a lot of the talk of the willwoods being "flexy" is from guys running much bigger pistons than is right eg 4 x 1.75" and getting a mushy pedal rather than 4 x 1.625)
Here a friend of mine with his out in the woods
They work excellently for our very fast North American stages..

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I wish I had kept mine, or at least taken more photos. Had one at 19yrs old as a step up from an Orion. Was so much fun on the pepperpots. I bought mine off a bloke in Birmingham. Briar hill area or something like that. I remember it well as when the deal was done he showed my dad and me his white Sapph in the garage. Anyone off here?
