the problem is a when driving the car even normal sunday driving it has a vibration or wobble seems to be comming from passenger side front when brakikng it goes off but starts at about 15 mph just gets worse as you speed up,it has had as follows,,both sides tca.s both t rod ends both wheel bearings and a disc and caliper upgrade cossie discs and mondeo si callipers, but non have made any differance,,wheels balancedx4 new tyres x4 local garage seem to think only thing left is drive shafts but dont want to just keep spending on no fix any clues many thanks,,..only thing confusing is the alloys are from a escort finnese mk7 and i am pretty surec they should have bolts with collars on but mine are solid bolts dont know if this is any thing to do with prob as when car is on jack in gear running the wheels look spot on in line,,..any info much apreciated also would the drive shafts from any mk 4 fit thanks again gary

A UJ can cause this, as can a drive shaft, it only needs the faintest of bends/out of true to do this, maybe try and fix a dial gauge to the hub etc with pointer on the driveshaft, compare with other side to see if there is any major difference, you will need to clean all the rust off with wire wheel on drill etc first.
Are the wheels being balanced BOTH sides of the wheel/s ie a weight right up against the rear of the spoke and another on the inner most edge.

hi m8 thanks for the reply by uj do you mean cv joint, hub end and the wheels were balanced twice but i tried it with a set of standard ford rims still the same wobble/vibe,will have to try and locate a pair of d shafts and try that only thing is i aint sure if the finesse wheels are compatable with the mk4 as im sure they should have collared studs,,also would you know if the d shafts are the same on all mk 4s many thanks gary

proper nuts or bolts on ya wheels is paramount. its like doing ya shoelaces up on ya running shoes.
i fitted some 5spokes on my saph which were on my mates escort cab and thought they'd be fine being ford fitment an stuff.
but later found after some abuse that my sierra nuts had different cone profile to the one on the rim and the hole really needed to be reemed out a bit for a snug fit with the nut. some light work with a dremel and all has been good ever since.
ya gotta make sure your nuts are good for your wheels by looking and measuring
and you need a good few turns of thread on ya nut too. none of that half hearted that'll do rubbish.

had the same problem with mine, mines a 89 on a F reg, turned out to be shocks and there was plently of play in the front lower arm bush, parts were cheap enough, 2 shocks costing me 50 quid, already had the lower arms with new bushes but shouldnt think they will cost you to much, Is it vibrateing when not moving (idle) most prob engine mounts if so
