Anyone know if you can get some nice tubular manifolds for a 2,9 4x4,that would mate up to a mongoose system??

Hello mate

I may be completely wrong on this, as it was a long time ago. But my mate had an old TVR with the 2.9 in it. I'm sure that had a lovely tubular manifold!

I do not know of any off the self product, I think you will need to get them custom made like I did.

£550 for the manifolds made to my spec. I looked at a lot of exhaust places and the normal price is around £100 a port. BTW I also got the rest of the system made up at the same time.

It was done by a small local company how name I can't remember but places like custom chrome will do them. Well I have no pictures of the manifolds as you can't see them very well but my car will be in Fast Ford in a month or two and there might be pictures in there. The difference is difficult to relate to another car as mine is a 3.7 wih a jag supercharger and an Omex ECU so its a bit different. With a standard manifold and SS exhaust I was hitting 275BHP with 340lb/ft and now witht he manifolds and new exhaust system I'm getting 300BHP with 373lb/ft. So a huge difference for me but I doubt it would make much difference on a standard/mild modded engine, as I have enlarged capacity with the supercharger running at 10psi which equals about twice the normal air in on a 2.9 engine going in so the standard manifolds where a huge restriction. So much so the heat genereated by the standard jobbies was melting connectors and wires in the engine bay.

Various pics can be found at http://www.xr4register.com/profiledavidward.php

Its strange that my car has spent a bit of time at PE this year but its been to all the big car shows and a lot of the smaller shows this year but no ones seems to have seen it there. As for the exhaust I'm not very knowledgeable about them I just asked for the manifolds to be as large and as long as possible and for the exhaust builder to make it the best he can. All I can say is I was very pleased with the results, and the car sounds fantastic.
