Default Sapphire radiator upgrade question

Ive just changed my radiator on my 3 Door Cosworth for an alloy one and was thinking of doing the same for the Sapphire as temps run a lot less.
But, I have Air Conditioning in it so is this still a straight swap or is it more of an issue due to the air con?
Its a 1993 4x4 Sapphire Cosworth btw

Heres a pic of my J reg 4x4 when i picked it up....it has a rs500 style intercooler and the ali rad.

The aircon had been deleted to fit this setup apparently.

Hope this helps to give you an idea what it looks like compared to your setup.

I believe you could fit an uprated rad and still retain the a/c as long as you're on the stock 4x4 intercooler. I'm talking about the normal cores not the thicker ones though as I don't know whether those fit or not. If in doubt you could always measure the dimensions of the stock rad and the uprated rad and compare them. If they're fairly similar they should be interchangeable

Yes still on stock intercooler.
Will have to look and try to measure up.
I want to update the cooling and keep the air con so I get the best of both

My sapphire 4x4 cosworth has uprated radiator with std intercooler and a/c. Yes, it's straight fit. The only thing that you have to do is to adjust a/c radiator to engine radiator. It's not big job, just need some small brackets.

Thanks for the info.
What do you mean by adjust a/c to engine radiator?

A/c condenser is already mounted to engine std radiator. You need a small modification to install condenser at the front of the uprated radiator.

I got told that you have to change the air con pump seals before putting the air con gas in. The gas used to be call 134r but I'm sure it's called something else these days.

A little tip when changing your rads don’t use a metal washer on the fan switch they tend to leak, stick with the fibre one as supplied from ford

I’m sure you used to be able to get an uprated radiator and inter cooler set up that retained the aircon. Think it may have been from pro alloy. I looked into it before I binned my aircon
