Default Fuse Box

Hi guys

does anyone know of where I can get a fuse box for a 4x4 saph cos. I have a problem with the headlights and the guys at the garage have traced it to the fuse box wiring and it appears to have melted. It looks like a previous repair was carried out at some point, likely at a previous mot, when one of the headlights was playing up a couple of years ago

so looks like I am after a new fuse box or some ideas as to how to fix if it’s a common issue. All suggestions/advice welcome.

Replacing the fuse box is a major job, as the entire loom needs to be removed.

Firstly, you need to ascertain the root cause as to why it melted (i.e. have the headlights been upgraded?)

Given the problem, I would simply suggest the lighting circuit can not be rewired independently, which would be far easier.

The guys at the garage mentioned it is a big job. The headlights haven’t been upgraded, are you saying the headlights could be wired independently. Getting hold of a fuse box looks like it may be easier said than done.

I would have thought you could make up a new wire harness just for the lights and run a new fused relay just for them

Hoping so. Will contact an auto electrician and see what they say.

Yes, they certainly could, which is appropriate for the following reasons.

. Alleviating a heavy load on the fuse box on these is never a bad thing, given it's overloaded as standard.
. The wiring at best is 25+ years old, during which time it would have built resistance, which may be a reason why you have the issue you have.

This is why I suggested rewiring independently, as what the garage are proposing (i.e. replacing the fusebox) is a major/costly undertaking.

You are right about the old original wiring, that is why a lot of us have had new engine, fans and fuel pump looms fitted which is costly but I am sure a good auto electrician should be able to do something to fix his problem.

I assume it's just the one fuse that melted?
