Default Where to get Alternator refurb for original 3dr 70A unit.

Any recommendations for a place in Hertfordshire or surrounding counties that could refurb my original 3dr 70A alternator to as new condition? Cheers.

Cheers guys

I have bought a new 90A gen ford unit from Burtons. Not cheap but a nice upgrade from the 70A.
I will get the 70Amp alt refurbed and post pictures here of the end result and who done the work etc.

I also fitted a new Anembo billet drop bracket at the same time. Very nice indeedy.

I bought the same for my 2wd Saff, upgraded to 90amp which is a good thing.

At least it is a reasonable price, about the same as a new 90 amp one.

Make sure you replace the alt to battery cable.

These deteriorate over time and fitting a 90amp will have no benefit unless it's done.
I used 170amp cable and crimped on ends and heatshrinked them.
I also uprated the ground cables from the battery to aid charging and help powering the amps I have.

Sapphires had 90 amp alternator to supply the increased demand put upon it by the heated front screen

I was told when I got my new one that the original was 70 amp but maybe they thought it was for a 3 door.

I can also confirm that the 2wd saff was 90amp.

The later 4x4 and escos had a different mounting due to later ribbed belt design and relocation of components.

I think the only difference is the pulley and they are interchangeable.

No, Mk1 (3 DR) is 70A, it's only an 'upgrade' if you have that demand.
