Default New boots

So finally going to risk going to a tyre fitters.

What's people's opinions on tyres for road use only on standard 15" alloys.

I'm not an aggressive driver but want a good quilty tyre.

205 50 15's

Probably just stick with the big names, I personally like Michelin but they are costly. Toyo make some good tyres.

Yes Toby not bad at all. They grip well in the dry with my power.

Well, tyres are on without any issues. Trackings being tweaked and it's off to be washed.

Had a good look underneath and found the n/s/f gaiters split.

I found my Toyo T1rs terrible, but that was in 18” tbf

Khumo, Yokohama’s (not paradas) or decent nankangs get my vote as good allrounders

I have tr1rs on my 205 gti and they are great on there, I had them on the cossie 205 for ages and they seemed pretty good although they struggled in 2wd on the skyline box but 469 bhp and just 195 tyres do not mix well, I wonder if they are better in smaller sizes, I run 15’s and 16s on those cars.

I am trying Yokos on the 16’s and 205s on the new setup, also tried 215’s

Easy fix, just a pain. Looks like it has caught and twisted?...is that a jubilee clip holding it on? That would be odd and could be why it caught and twisted?

It sure is and that was my thinking as to why it's twisted.

Dropped into GG in Leicester this morning and picked up 4 new gaiters, going to do the lot up front now.

Tyres - not given them a good run yet due to the gaiter but they do seem quieter than the old rubber, mixed bag of opinions but do seem to favour the smaller sizes.

Fitted standard 2055015 Continentals on the Cossie to replace the 25 year old D40's

The difference was like night and day, quiet, grippy and the old style tread pattern still resembled the D40's and suited the car, more so than some of the more modern styles like the Yokohama and Toyo's
