saphh 4x4 heater blower not working-aircon model
Evening folks the blower has stopped working on my saff, doesn't work at any speed. Fuse checks out okay, any other common issues? Thanks in advance ☺
|
Anyone?
|
Check at the blower itself first mate to see if any power there then u can rule out the motor Itself and move on the diagnosis from there
|
The heater motor should run even when its not switched on. Remove the panel under the wiper motor and check to see if there is any power going to the plug.
|
check the connectors on top of the blower motor itself, one of mine was corroded and didn't work unless you gave it a wiggle. well worth a look before you pull it apart too far.

there is a microswitch that kills the power to it when both the sliders are set to the bottom position, check this one to make sure it's not stuck, it's behind the dash binnacle though so you need to get the screwdrivers out once you've got the cover off you will see 3 screws holding the controllers in place, unscrew all these and you should be able to pull the unit out and access the switch the other problems these had was the blower dial itself packing up and then there's the wiggle test on the wires for the blower motor |
Mine constantly runs Dojj.
|
Thanks for the replies, dojjis right she's a 92 on a k plate and the blowers do switch off if you put both control knobs down
|
I will have to try this then lol.
|
So it seems the actual motor has packed up, I'm guessing there are no longer available. Apart from buying a used one does anyone know if a repair service?
|
So i take it the motor on yours with it being the aircon model is totaly different from a standard heater motor?
My saff used to have an aftermarket air con system, fhis used the standard heater motor. |
It looks the same Glenn as non aircon
|
find a granada or scorpio one to replace it with. granada will almost certainly fit, scorpio looks very similar too. :top:

Ok cool. Mine was incased in a big plastic box under the windscreen wiper panel like a standard motor.

The Granada ones have different wires, so while they will fit, they might not work

I took all the air con system out a few years back. I’d love to fit aircon in the Orion... |
Just wind the windows down.

Wife’s hair is a mess then... not allowed windows right down on the motorway  It’s too windy and noisy :007: :wall: |
Okay folks the link I posted above they do fit, had my local garage change it over today. Thought it might be of use to someone if theirs breaks ☺

not on his car mate,it's going to be at least a 90 spec so you can turn them off

It looks like you can get the top off but it's stuck for some reason and there's no bolts or screws, btw it's a Italian imported car ;-) can you remove that? i don't have a sierra handy otherwise i'd take a pic of the normal set up where you can quite easily spot the two nuts either side of the fan motor that anchor it into place but you then mention that it's italian, and they have a 100% record in building cars with excellent wiring don't they :cry::cry::cry::cry: |
