Default Help with original radio and amplifier

I want to fit a genuine Ford Sound 2000 (FD 2006) radio/cassette player and the four channel amplifier into my '88 saph cosworth 2wd but are struggling to figure out how to connect it all together.

First question:
How is the wiring and connection between the radio and the car's wiring loom supposed to be? I believe it was fitted an aftermarket player before and the only wiring I can find in the car is a black small flat connector with 4 cables attach to it. I already have the wiring between the radio and amp.

Second question:
How is the speakers supposed to be connected to the amp? It is a connector connected to the amp but all 8 cables are snapped off. I guess I need a wiring diagram for this that shows where the RL, RR, FL and FR speaker goes into the amp connector. And are the two pins to the right of the speaker connector just + and -?

Third question:
I did bought two amplifiers just to find out that both doesn't fit straight into the 2wd centre dash. Obviously there is a difference between the amps for 2wd dash and later dash's. The difference is that the 2wd version has a cover/extension on each side and also a top extension with screw holes. Do you know if the extensions are in one piece with the amp itself or can they be dismantled from the amp?

Any pictures and info about this is warmly appreciated!

Late reply, But I am currently looking at installing mine.

You need an 8 pin DIN male to female cable:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2919587250...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

(I can't find a shorter cable)

The speaker plug from the loom would sit in the amp, The amp will also have a +/- point these need to be wired up to the power plug... This is easy enough to do as the wires are red/black....

But here's where i'm stuck. Assuming your stereo is as the same as the 1980s premium sound 2007(2000 model) There's 5 wires for the power plug for mine.

Negative/Earth
??? I guess Switched live/positive
???
switched lights
permanent live/positive

Is your power outlet on the stereo like this?

However it looks like you're trying to fit a 1990s Ford stereo into 1980s stereo placement.

Surely you'd want this one?

Don't know if these will help at all. I do have the proper diagrams at home but I am at work at the moment.

Has anyone got a spare connector that would fit this arrangement above?

I have sorted this out now thanks to this wiring loom harness:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140783085245

One of the connectors allowed me to connect the radio/stereo to positive (+), ignition and negative/earth. The other connector is meant for the speakers but I didn't need that since I was lucky to find speaker wires on eBay with the original plug that fits into the amp. I already had the wiring between the radio and amp in place so when all was connected the radio and cassette player now works like a charm.

Regarding my third question I did found an amp with front panel that fitted the 2wd dash. Except for the front panel the amps are exactly the same and you can dismantle the panel if you want to switch. I did switch the panel to an amp that originally had the 4x4 dash panel since that was new and never used before.

I still have the original stereo and amp for mine, came with the car when i bought it after someone had fitted sn aftermarket head unit.

Out of curiosity i just pulled the head unit out to see how it had been done and I'm missing a bit of the original loom.

The main car loom with the standard ford connectors for both power and speakers is ok, however the part that connects this to the head unit and amp has been butchered by whoever fitting the cd player.

Rs stian - i believe this is the bit you were lucky to find on ebay? I cant see myself finding one of them easily

The 8 pin circular connector on amp power supply are still behind the dash
