Actually, I cannot remember if mine was pro alloy or pace (I gave it to jonfoc so he can confirm) but mu]y mapping was held back due to 50 degree plus intake temps.

Size for size a tube and fin core will never cool the same as a bar and plate. The pro alloy one cools the same as any of the other tube and fin versions.

I always thought that the pro alloy kit always seemed better quality and the spec r was a bit boxy but never really tried any spec r kit

That's why I bought the airtec. I can always order the spec r and just wait, you would think someone would make an alternative as there seems to be a market for them.

Aha, cossie Dave did the same for me on another part recently. I will give you a call and maybe book a time to come over and tweak my car to the new inlet and cooler and talk 2.2 alloy
